Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2651

Jenny’s eyes sparkled with joy. "My mom called me again a little while ago. She asked all about Jonas and me. She was a little disappointed about me giving up on the surgeon's son, but she agreed to let me bring Jonas home to meet her."

Sylvia leaned back in her chair, a cup of Grace’s homemade tea warming her hands. She smiled, genuinely happy for her friend. "Congratulations."

"Thank you, Sylvia. I really mean it," Jenny said, her expression earnest. "If you hadn't given us that push, we might have never been honest with each other. We could have really missed our chance."

"To be honest, it was my first time doing something like that," Sylvia admitted. "I was worried my good intentions would backfire. I'm glad you two pulled through."

Jenny beamed, her gaze warm. "Sylvia, you're officially my friend for life." She thumped her chest. "If you ever need anything, you can count on me."

Sylvia took a sip of her tea, a gentle smile playing on her lips.

Una, who was busy brushing sauce on the kebabs, called out, "Sylvia, Jenny, do you want these spicy?"

Jenny turned to Sylvia. "Can you handle spicy food?"

Sylvia thought of Gabriel’s injuries. "No, not really. Something mild would be better for me, but you guys go ahead."

Jenny immediately called back to Una, "No spice for us! We'll have it mild!"

Jonas looked up from the grill. "Wow, you get a boyfriend and suddenly your taste buds change!"

Everyone erupted in laughter, Jenny included.

The barbecue continued until eight o'clock. Though everyone was full, no one wanted to leave. They gathered around, chatting and enjoying the cozy atmosphere.

At eight-thirty, a staff member from the student quarters hurried over. "Professor Quintin, we have a problem."

Grace stood up immediately. "What's wrong?"

"About a dozen of the students have fevers," the administrator reported.

Everyone else stood up in alarm. "How could so many of them get sick at once?" Jonas asked urgently.

Gabriel, who had already started for the parking lot, paused and glanced back at Sylvia.

"Okay," Sylvia agreed. "I'll go with Mr. Carnes."

Grace handed her an umbrella. "Be careful on the road," she said seriously.

"We will," Sylvia nodded, opening the umbrella and stepping out into the rain.

Gabriel was a few seconds ahead of her, his long strides quickly widening the distance between them. Seeing that he didn't have an umbrella, Sylvia hurried to catch up. She fell into step beside him, deliberately positioning herself on his left and raising the umbrella high to shield him from the rain.

"I'm fine," he said, dismissing the gesture.

But Sylvia stubbornly held the umbrella over his head.

He stopped walking and turned to meet her gaze. After a moment, he let out an almost imperceptible sigh, took the umbrella from her hand, and held it over both of them.
