Chapter 268 

While there was a huge commotion going on outside, Norah, the star of the show, had no idea what was happening. She had no clue that her uncle was standing up for her, and she didn’t know that the Burke family was about to go bankrupt!

She was in a bad mood and did not want to go out, so she invited Estelle to come over to her house.

Estelle took a taxi to the Lamont family’s house, where only Norah and Mrs. Lamont were home. Mrs. Lamont was watching her favorite drama in the living room and enthusiastically greeted Estelle when she saw her, “Ella!”

“Hi, Granny!” Estelle replied with a warm smile.

“Come over here!” Mrs. Lamont happily patted the spot next to her for Estelle to sit down and asked, “How have you been lately?”

Estelle nodded obediently, “Not bad!”

Mrs. Lamont said kindly, “I heard from Norah that you’ve been working all summer to earn tuition fees. You’re such a good girl! Come over more often when you’re free!”

“Sure, thanks, Granny!”

Mrs. Lamont asked, “You’re here for Norah, right? What’s been going on with her? She’s been so down lately. Her mom is on a business trip, and she won’t tell me anything.”

Estelle sweetly replied, “I’m not sure, either. I’ll try to ask her later.”

“Alright!”

As they talked, Norah came running down the stairs, “Estelle!”

Estelle stood up, “Norah.”

Feeling guilty, Norah glanced at her grandmom and took Estelle by the arm, leading her upstairs, “Let’s go talk upstairs!”

Estelle said goodbye to Mrs. Lamont, who smiled and said, “Go ahead, I’ll have Addy bring you some snacks later.”

Back in Norah’s room and with the door closed, she immediately asked Estelle, “You didn’t tell my granny about Nicolas, did you?”

“No,” Estelle replies.

Angrily, Norah added, “But I don’t feel touched at all when I hear this. I just want to puke! I can imagine that if we got back together, when his work isn’t going well, he’d blame me for holding him back. He’d be better off with Leah. They deserve each other!”

Estelle was shocked to hear that, the Burke family’s business was about to crumble, and that Nicolas was so shameless as to try to deceive Norah, saying he quit his job for her.

How could there be such shameless people? 

Luckily, though Norah might be naive, she was not completely blinded by love.

Estelle’s eyes were cold as she said, “No matter what he says, just ignore him!” 

Norah furiously pounded the cushion, “But it still pisses me off that I’m just letting those two awful people get away with it. Am I too easy to bully?” 

Estelle raised an eyebrow, her eyes were cold, “Then show him that you’re not easy to bully!”

“Huh?” Norah looked puzzledly at Estelle.

Estelle asked, “What did Nicolas give up on you for?” 

Norah frowned, “Money!”
