Gabriel was speechless.
Estelle pursed her lips, her clear eyes smiling as she also looked at Gabriel, waiting for his answer.
Gabriel’s expression remained unchanged. “My situation is different from Estelle’s.”
“The situations may be different, but the emotions are the same,” Old Mr. Jarvis said meaningfully. “Everyone’s needs in a relationship are the same.”
Estelle nodded vigorously in agreement. “Grandpa’s right!”
Gabriel shot her a look and said with a wry smile, “Just eat your food.”

After the meal, Estelle stayed to chat with Old Mr. Jarvis while Gabriel went to the front courtyard to entertain the guests.
When he returned, Old Mr. Jarvis was gone, and Estelle was alone, dozing off while leaning against the low wooden table. The window was open, and the sun cast a warm, golden glow on her.
As soon as Gabriel entered, Estelle opened her eyes, looking pleasantly drowsy. “That must have been tiring.”
“Go to your room and sleep if you’re tired,” Gabriel said.
Estelle poured herself a glass of chilled tea. After a few sips, she felt more alert. “Grandpa is on a call with someone from B City. He told me to wait for him.”
Gabriel sat in the chair opposite her, his handsome face partially shaded by the window lattice, his gaze clear. “Of course, people from B City will be coming. It’s impossible for Grandpa to keep a low profile, not with the Lamont family involved.”
Estelle nodded faintly. “The JQ Division also called me. They said they wanted to send someone with a gift, but I declined.”
Gabriel looked up. “Why decline? Let them come. It’s just for a wedding reception.”
Estelle raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
Finishing her tea, Estelle put down the cup and told him about her plan to bring the ashes of Shadow and the others back.
Gabriel’s expression had cooled the moment she mentioned Sylvia’s trip. By the time she finished, his jaw was tight. “If she doesn’t want to come, she’ll find any excuse.”
“But, there’s a but,” Estelle said with a grin. “I told her, ‘You must come, we’ll be waiting for you,’ and then… she agreed.”
Gabriel turned to look at her, saw the playful glint in her eyes, and understood instantly.
“Are you deliberately messing with me?”
Estelle sniffed. “If you didn’t care, you wouldn’t have fallen for it.”
Gabriel’s face darkened, and he stood up to leave.
Estelle grabbed his wrist and pulled him back down, studying him thoughtfully. “Something’s not right with you.”
He asked, “What’s not right?”
