On the phones of those who were live-streaming, the comment section exploded with people betting on whether Mr. Lamont could make the shot.
The person streaming, however, had completely forgotten about his broadcast. He held his phone up, his eyes fixed on Jonathan, not even blinking, oblivious to the fact that his viewer count had surpassed three hundred thousand in mere seconds.
The two wheels turned at different speeds. Hitting the mark at the exact moment of alignment was a test not only of aim but also of control, patience, and powerful calculation.
Suddenly, with a *thrum*!
The arrow sliced through the air with a whistling sound, flying straight toward the still-turning wheel.
In that instant, everyone’s eyes widened. They gasped, holding their breath.
With a solid *thud*, just as the two wheels aligned, the arrow sank into the hole at the three o’clock position. The wheel stopped, with only the arrow’s white fletching trembling violently.
The wheel suddenly transformed. The wooden circle in the center of the back wheel expanded outward, while the front wheel retracted inward. The dragon from the outside and the phoenix from the inside were finally united.
Then, the arrow fell away, and the wheel began to spin rapidly. A series of soft pops echoed from the eaves around the courtyard as fireworks like shooting stars burst open, showering down petals in a luminous cascade!
The entire courtyard was filled with flowing fireworks, like a waterfall, like a meteor shower. Their brilliant light mingled with the sunlight, creating a dreamlike, fantastical scene.
The beautiful and magnificent display drew fierce gasps of awe from the crowd.
While everyone was lost in the magical moment, Jonathan’s dark eyes remained focused. He stepped forward and pushed the door. This time, with a gentle push, it swung open.
Amid the excited cheers of the crowd, Jonathan set down the bow and stepped through the doorway.
He entered, and after just two steps, the door closed automatically behind him. He didn’t look back, continuing straight ahead.
He was very familiar with Estelle’s quarters. The entrance led into a spacious, bright living room that blended traditional and modern design.
The first thing he saw was a cream-colored sofa. Beside it, a vase on a tall stand held festive red orchids. Behind the sofa was a carved wooden screen, and behind that, a study.
Jonathan was no stranger to such things. He glanced at it and replied to Magdalen, “I see it!”
Magdalen smiled faintly. “Please put it on, Mr. Lamont.”
Jonathan walked over and did as she asked without a word. He picked up the device and placed it over his head. His vision went dark. He flipped a switch, and his entire field of view became a misty, gray-white haze.
The fog was thick, a vast expanse of white. Jonathan stood still, waiting for it to clear.
Suddenly, he heard the snarling of wild dogs and a little girl’s cries—a young girl, sobbing and screaming in desperation and terror.
A chill ran down his spine. He immediately broke into a run toward the sound of the girl’s weeping.
He ran quickly through the mist, and the world around him began to sharpen into focus: the setting sun casting the world in a dim twilight, a dark, narrow alley, and the faint smoke curling up from the chimneys of nearby houses.
