Sylvia took a deep breath, stopped, and looked at Grace with a hint of exasperation. “I forgot to ask, is Mr. Fleming still at the manor?”
Grace met her gaze and relented. “Alright, let’s not talk about these things today.”
Sylvia chuckled and resumed walking toward the castle.
Suddenly, a man in a blue shirt hurried toward them, his voice bright with pleasant surprise. “Sylvia!”
Hearing someone call Sylvia’s name, Grace felt a flicker of confusion.
Eugene approached, a smile on his handsome face. “On my way here, I was wondering if I might run into you.”
Sylvia smiled politely and introduced him to Grace. “This is my friend, Eugene.”
She then introduced Grace to him.
Eugene extended his hand. “A pleasure to meet you.”
Grace shook it lightly. “Likewise.”
Eugene turned back to Sylvia, his tone concerned. “How have you been feeling lately? Have you been eating well?”
Sylvia smiled. “Don’t worry. After what happened last time, I’ve learned that my health is the most important thing. I won’t be careless again.”
“That’s good to hear.” Eugene’s gaze was gentle. “I was worried you’d forget to be careful once you felt better.”
Grace asked, “What happened with your health?”
Since she was fine now, Sylvia didn’t want to dwell on it. “I was a little sick a while ago, but I’m all better now.”
Eugene was still worried. “Milanda mentioned you have a lot of social events lately. Work functions are unavoidable, but try to drink less.”

Meanwhile, Eugene found Mrs. Winters. “What did you call for?”
“Why did you hang up?” Mrs. Winters’s tone was chiding, but her demeanor was unusually pleasant. She patted his shoulder, brushing off a stray flower petal. “Remember that girl I told you about? She’s quite something. She’s here with the bride’s family today, an honored guest of the Lamonts. I just called her, and she’s arriving any minute. I’ll introduce you two later!”
Eugene showed little interest. “You don’t need to worry about me. I’m very busy lately and don’t have time for dating.”
“Dating won’t take up that much of your time!” Mrs. Winters was practically pleading. “You and that Sylvia girl have already broken up, haven’t you? It’s time to find a new girlfriend!”
“I broke up with her so you people would stop harassing her!” Eugene’s expression turned cold. “Don’t you dare compare her to anyone else. For her, I would put my work on hold. For anyone else, even a single minute feels like a waste.”
“You…” Mrs. Winters was furious but didn’t dare lash out.
These days, Eugene was in charge of the entire Winters family, which was the only reason she still held any status. She could no longer scold him as she once did.
