Marina flushed. “Fine, then pour him as much alcohol as you want. See if I even blink.”
She then added, “Besides, Mr. Foster isn’t the only one with no one to feel sorry for him. There’s still Chuck and Mr. Flemmings.”
When Marina mentioned Chuck’s name, Harriet, who was applying lipstick on Estelle, paused almost imperceptibly before resuming her focused work.
Norah, holding the bouquet, quickly interjected, “Mr. Flemmings is on Estelle’s side of the family. You can’t bully him!”
As soon as she spoke, Magdalen, Marina, and the others all turned to look at her.
Magdalen raised an eyebrow, her eyes full of knowing mischief. “Norah, so concerned about Mr. Flemmings, are we?”
Norah’s eyes darted around. “I’m concerned about Estelle!”
With that, she placed a hand on Estelle’s shoulder and gave a charming smile. “Right, Estelle?”
Magdalen immediately pounced. “Oh, she’s calling you Estelle now? That’s even more suspicious!”
Everyone else laughed, but Norah seemed increasingly unfazed, letting them tease her as they pleased.
Time ticked by amidst the laughter and banter, and the wedding ceremony was about to begin.
*
Everyone was watching the wedding of the Lamont family and KING, including Yvonne, who was forced to stay home.
Yvonne had tried to leave, but Lambert’s men stopped her. She threw a massive tantrum and even called the police. However, after the police arrived and checked the identities of Lambert’s men, they quietly withdrew.
Yvonne stormed back into the house, furious.
Hannah was also watching the live broadcast of the Lamont family’s wedding, her face grim. She looked at Yvonne. “Those men must be from the Lamonts, right? They’ve really got some nerve.”
Yvonne stared at the live broadcast projected onto the television, her pretty face contorted with jealousy. “Turn it off right now!”
After everything that had happened, Simone thought she had become numb to anything concerning Estelle. But for some reason, seeing Estelle in her wedding dress caused a sharp pain in her heart.
That was supposed to be her daughter, yet this monumental event in her life had nothing to do with her.
Bennett was also moved. He said softly, “When you married me, you also wore a red wedding dress. You looked a lot like Estelle.”
Simone’s gaze grew distant. “Did I? For some reason, I don’t think we looked alike at all.”
Bennett glanced at her but said nothing.
Simone’s voice was hoarse. “If Estelle had just been honest with us from the beginning and told us she was from the Jarvis family, we wouldn’t be in this situation.”
Bennett was quiet for a moment before looking at Simone. “Then did we love our own daughter, or did we love her status as a member of the Jarvis family?”
Simone froze, her face darkening. She continued to watch the broadcast for a few more minutes before getting up and returning to her room.
