“Happy?” Gabriel asked.
Sylvia shook her head. “I don’t know.”
“Stunned speechless?” Gabriel smiled.
Sylvia just looked at him without a word.
Gabriel’s voice softened. “It’s okay. Take your time getting used to it. I’m here for you.”
Sylvia nodded in a daze.
“Now, I’ll take you to Georgia and share the good news,” Gabriel said with a smile, letting her go and starting the car.
Sylvia looked down, lost in thought for a moment, then asked, “If Georgia is my mother, who’s my father?”
Gabriel explained, “Your father was a university classmate of Georgia’s. He went abroad to study and never came back. He probably has his own family by now. Your only blood relatives now are Georgia and Old Mr. Quintin.”
Sylvia nodded faintly, then murmured to herself, “So… I wasn’t abandoned.”
“Of course not!” Gabriel said, his gaze deep as he looked at her. “You were most likely kidnapped. After you were lost, Georgia and Old Mr. Quintin were devastated. They love you very much.”
Sylvia looked at the sunlight outside the window, and a dark shadow deep in her heart finally lifted.
She hadn’t been thrown away. Her family had searched for her.
…
Mrs. Winters received a call from Evelyn before she even left the lab grounds.
Evelyn sounded panicked and rushed. “Did you get the results? I’m in the small garden behind the lab. Bring them to me right now.”
Mrs. Winters said sheepishly, “I got the results early, but Gabriel Carnes took them.”
“What?” Evelyn’s voice was shrill.
Mrs. Winters’s words felt like a cruel joke to Evelyn, piercing her heart. But she didn’t dare admit anything. She couldn’t say a word, only feigning excitement. “Thank you! I’m going home now. Thanks for your help today.”
“Don’t be a stranger. If you ever need anything from me in the future, just ask. I’ll make sure it’s handled properly,” Mrs. Winters said with a happy laugh. “My birthday party is on Saturday. You have to come, Evelyn!”
“I know!” Evelyn’s mind was in turmoil. She mumbled a few perfunctory words and hung up.
After putting her phone away, Evelyn collapsed onto a park bench. Panic, jealousy, and resentment churned within her as tears streamed down her face. A wave of immense dread left her completely lost.
She thought she had secured her future, but now, a single piece of paper had taken everything away.
If Sylvia hadn’t appeared, perhaps she could have stayed with the Quintin family. But now that Sylvia was the true heiress, what was she going to do?
Why did Sylvia have to take everything from her?
Evelyn sat on the bench, weeping uncontrollably, heartbroken.

As the plot thicken. Adrian is done for and he can't try to control Norah, so he'd probably tattle to Janice who's gone for two weeks. Thank you soooo much for the updates....
