Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2898

Eugene, seeing her like this, felt a pang of guilt. He could only say, “Love is a matter of feeling—perhaps it’s just that I met Sylvia first, and that shaped everything that followed.”

Evelyn nodded, tears falling as she did. She quickly wiped them away and stood up. “Well, Mr. Winters, I hope you get some rest. I’ll be leaving now.”

Eugene added, “I meant what I said—if you ever need anything, I’ll do my best to make up for my mistake.”

Evelyn gave a bitter smile. “I have everything I need, and there’s nothing I want. Let’s just pretend nothing ever happened that night.”

With that, she turned and walked away.

Eugene’s head was already spinning, and talking for so long only made him feel worse. Still, now that he had cleared things up with Evelyn, he felt some relief.

After leaving the hospital room, Evelyn wiped her tears away, her face clouded with grief and determination.

She wasn’t about to let this go so easily.

Over the next week, Sylvia didn’t see Gabriel at all.

He must have visited the Quintin family home, likely stopping by around lunchtime to see Old Mr. Jarvis, having a meal, and then leaving.

But for Sylvia, it didn’t mean much—whether he came or went, he never told her anyway.

Not seeing him, she simply assumed he had already left.

Eugene had been discharged from the hospital. Sylvia had only called him twice and hadn’t visited again.

Her days were filled with work. In the evenings, she learned painting from her grandfather. Before bed, she’d chat with Georgia for a while, then head back to her own room to sleep. Every day felt full and meaningful.

Having family around made life entirely different than being alone.

One day, she finished work early and arrived home just as dusk was settling in. Passing through the garden, she spotted Old Mr. Quintin crouched under a flowering tree, weeding. She walked over. “Grandpa, let me help you!”

Old Mr. Quintin looked up, delighted. “You’re home early today.”
