Elizabeth smiled kindly. “Thanks for making the trip! Have a seat and have some tea.”

Millard thanked Elizabeth, and had someone bring the gift over.

Elizabeth quickly told Corley to take it. Seeing it was a painting, she immediately had him unwrap it in front of everyone.

Once the wrapping was off, everyone gasped, “This is a rare masterpiece!”

“It’s a real work of art; so valuable!”

“I heard it was at an auction awhile back, and the Lamont family got it!”

The previous auction was a private one, and getting in had strict qualifications. Not only did you need to have money, but you also need to have high social status.
