Evelyn first walked up to Old Mr. Quintin and bowed deeply, her head lowered, unable to meet his eyes as she choked out an apology. “Old Mr. Quintin, I’m so sorry!”
Her face was still pale from her recent illness, her whole demeanor subdued and frail. “Ever since I was a child, there was never anyone who truly cared for me. It wasn’t until I met you that I understood what it meant to have a family. You were so kind to me, and yet I let you down. I was afraid to come back to see you, but if I just left like this, my conscience would never let me rest.”
“Whether or not you forgive me, I needed to come and apologize.”
“I’ll remember your kindness for the rest of my life.”
Old Mr. Quintin thought back to the first time he met Evelyn, how bright and endearing she’d been, and how he’d poured all the longing he had for Nana into her. Even after finding Nana, he’d believed Evelyn could become part of their family, too.
Now he couldn’t help but question whether his affection had ended up hurting her.
Feeling a pang of regret, Old Mr. Quintin furrowed his brow and sighed. “Where are you going?”
Evelyn, voice trembling, answered, “I found a job in a small city near Azeroth City. I’ve already bought my ticket.”
Old Mr. Quintin nodded slowly. “Take care of yourself.”
“Thank you!” Evelyn bowed deeply again, her reluctance to leave entirely genuine.
She then turned to Sylvia. “Sylvia, I know I’ve said a lot of things in the past that weren’t sincere, but today my apology is from the heart.”
Sylvia responded calmly, “It’s all right.”
Evelyn dabbed at her tears, then turned to Sophia. “Sophia, I’m sorry.”
Sophia smiled, completely unconcerned. “I never took it to heart, so don’t worry about it. Safe travels—and come back to J City whenever you have the chance!”
Evelyn nodded, firm and sincere. “I’ll always remember everything that happened here in J City. I won’t let myself lose my way again.”
She picked up her suitcase and looked back at everyone. “Take care, everyone.”
With that, Evelyn wiped away her tears and walked out.
Old Mr. Quintin watched her slender figure as she left, letting out a long sigh. He turned to a nearby housekeeper. “Have the driver take her.”
The housekeeper immediately went out to arrange it.
Worried that Old Mr. Quintin and Estelle were feeling sad, Georgia tried to comfort them. “Think of this as a chapter in her life—maybe it will help her grow in the end.”
Old Mr. Quintin nodded. “I hope so.”

As the plot thicken. Adrian is done for and he can't try to control Norah, so he'd probably tattle to Janice who's gone for two weeks. Thank you soooo much for the updates....
