Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2990

Adelaide maintained a proud and exacting demeanor. “You’ve mentored Emily, and yes, she’s turned out one or two eye-catching designs. But that alone doesn’t make her a competent, qualified designer. I’m not interested in her past achievements—I’m only looking at the work she’s submitted to me now, and frankly, it doesn’t meet my standards.”

With those words, Adelaide attributed all of Emily’s past accomplishments to Padgett’s guidance.

Emily didn’t attempt to defend herself. Her composure returned as she quietly calmed down, waiting for Adelaide’s next words.

She was well aware that Adelaide’s criticism was not her true objective here.

Adelaide seemed to ponder for a moment before making up her mind. “When Mr. Greco arrives later, I’ll speak to him and request a few more days for the deadline. Emily, you’re still lacking real-world experience and familiarity with on-site construction. Over the next couple of days, I want you to do nothing but visit the Sterling Properties site. Take a careful look at the surrounding facilities, green spaces, and transportation layout. Also, go see how a few comparable developments have handled their planning.”

Padgett cut in, “There are people who handle that sort of investigation. Adelaide, you’re basically pushing Emily out of her designer’s role and into an assistant’s.”

Adelaide smiled coolly. “In my view, only when a designer knows these details inside and out can she create truly outstanding plans.”

Padgett’s expression remained severe, and he said nothing more.

Emily did not object. “Adelaide is right. To satisfy our client, I’ll go and do the site research.”

Adelaide gave a chilly smile. “It’s perfectly acceptable for young professionals to have gaps in their ability—what matters is the humility to learn. For the next week, focus solely on your research; I’d like a daily report on my desk before you finish each day.”

Emily kept her tone respectful. “That’s no problem. I’m happy to follow Adelaide’s instructions.”

Adelaide nodded in satisfaction. “That’s all for now—let’s adjourn.”

After the meeting, Padgett called Emily to his office. He was clearly livid. “That woman is out of line!”
