Estelle didn’t dare to sit any longer, or who knows what they might say, “I’m going out first, just call me if you need anything!”
Jonathan frowned slightly, “You’re not even busy, where are you going?”
Charlie also said, “Don’t go, let’s play a board game together, the three of us!”
Estelle had played with Jonathan a few times but she wasn’t proficient. She shook her head, “No can do, I’m sure I’ll lose.”
Charlie pulled out the cards and laughed, “I got you covered, just play without worries. If you win, it’s yours; if you lose, it’s on me!”
Jonathan glanced at him, “You’ve got some nerve!”
Charlie laughed, “Well, that’s me!”
He shuffled the cards with both hands, then Josiah, suddenly ran over, all excited, “What are you guys playing? Count me in!”
Seeing him coming, Estelle took the opportunity to get up, “You guys can play together then!”
Charlie glanced at Josiah, “How come you’re out here?”
Josiah said, “Carson’s covering for me!”
Charlie said, “Then you play with Jonathan, I’ll go look for Carson.”
Josiah took the cards from his hands, “Alright, you go!”
Charlie smiled at Estelle, “Still the same as before, if you win, it’s yours; if you lose, it’s on me. I’ll even get you ice cream!”
Jonathan’s eyes swept over Charlie coldly. Charlie provocatively raised his eyebrows and turned to find those playing mahjong.
Josiah: “…”
Although Jonathan spoke confidently, Josiah couldn’t help but feel something was off.
Estelle, though not proficient in the game, couldn’t help but notice Jonathan’s silent help. She glanced at him, her eyes were full of smile.
This smile caught Jonathan off guard and secretly stirred his heart.
When Charlie came over, Josiah had already lost miserably. He complained to Charlie, “Bro, Jonathan’s bullying me!”
Charlie looked at the huge pile of chips in front of Estelle and laughed, “You asked for it, a bet’s a bet!”
Estelle felt a bit embarrassed, “Charlie, you take my place, I have something to do and need to go out for a bit!”
Charlie glanced at Jonathan and smiled faintly, “Sure, you go do your thing, I’ll play with them!”
