Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 3023

Magdalen leaned in, her eyes sharp.

Emily recounted the entire nightmare with Adelaide. She let out an easy, unburdened laugh. "It's honestly for the best. I kept second-guessing myself, but now I don't have a backup plan."

"Adelaide sounds like a total psycho," Magdalen scoffed, her tone icy. "What a sneaky, manipulative bitch."

"Did Padgett resign too?" Estelle asked.

"Yeah," Emily nodded. "I told my mentor I was opening my own place, and he immediately said he wanted in."

Estelle nodded in understanding and raised her glass again. "Let's leave the garbage in the past. Here's to Emily's new studio. May it be a massive, undeniable success!"

"Hell yes!" Magdalen cheered. "Like a phoenix from the ashes! I am one hundred percent behind Boss Emily. May your business boom and your life peak!"

Estelle looked at Emily and smirked. "Notice how she never has this much enthusiasm for running her own family's company?"

"That's because Morrison does all the heavy lifting for me!" Magdalen shot back. "I literally have nowhere to channel my ambition."

"So you're using Emily to live out your girl-boss fantasies?" Estelle teased.

"Can't a girl dream?" Magdalen quipped.

Emily laughed. "When my studio officially opens, I'll hire you as my motivational speaker."

"Please don't," Estelle deadpanned. "She'll get too into it and end up poaching all your employees."

The three of them burst out laughing.

As they joked, a man tried to slide up to their table. Before he could even open his mouth, a masked waiter holding a serving tray smoothly stepped into his path.

Magdalen craned her neck, scanning the room to prove her theory.

Estelle glanced around as well, but the crowd was too dense. Giving up, she popped a piece of melon into her mouth. The sweet taste instantly lifted her mood, and she slid the fruit plate toward Emily.

Seeing Magdalen still aggressively searching the VIP booths, Emily couldn't help but laugh. "Magdalen, maybe you should ask yourself why Jonah doesn't trust you with her."

Magdalen scoffed indignantly. "I am flawless. The only one who needs to self-reflect is Jonathan Lamont. He's just a jealous control freak terrified I'm going to run off with his precious Ella!"

"That just proves you're an actual threat to him," Estelle said smoothly. "You should be flattered."

Magdalen's face lit up instantly. "You're totally right! The more paranoid he is, the more it proves how vital I am to your life!"

Her ego successfully stroked, Ms. Sampson was in high spirits as she ordered another round of drinks.
