Emily takes a deep breath, glancing at a bird flying past the window before turning back to them. "You can ask my mother in detail about our family's situation. Ask her why I'm doing this. I know my mother worked hard, and I have paid back everything I owed her. My conscience is clear. I'm very busy, so I won't see you out."
With that, Emily stands up and heads for the door.
"Emily!" Sterling calls after her. "There's no such thing as a bad parent. No matter what your mother did, it was for your own good! Even if she was a little biased or made mistakes, how can a daughter hold a grudge against her own mother? If you really go through with this, it's the ultimate betrayal!"
Kimberly chimes in, "Emily, your mother really does love you. She's cried so much over not being able to attend your engagement that her eyes are swollen, and she's made herself sick. How can you be so cruel? No matter what happened in the past, use this engagement as a chance to clear up the misunderstandings. What kind of grudge could you possibly hold against your own flesh and blood?"
Turning a deaf ear to them both, Emily continues walking toward the door.
Sterling is considered a figure of authority in the family. Seeing that Emily is still ignoring him after he lowered himself to reason with her, he explodes in anger.
"Emily, if you're going to be this heartless and disown your own family, don't blame your uncle when people call you an ungrateful backstabber!"
Emily pauses for a moment, her tone turning even colder.
"Do what you want."
She pulls the door open and freezes.
Charlie's hand is raised, as if he were just about to open the door himself. Seeing her, his brows furrow involuntarily, his eyes suppressing a mix of rage and heartache.
He reaches out, gently cupping her pale, icy cheek before taking her hand and leading her back into the room.
The man's broad, warm hand instantly thaws her rigid body, and a spark of light returns to her eyes.
Charlie leads her into the reception room and sits her down on the sofa, first pouring her a glass of water before speaking in a low, even tone. "Who wants to insult my fiancée? Whatever it is you want to say, say it to my face first."

Now he needs to boldly claim the only woman he loves is Emily…I just had to add my two cents (he he he)....
Now Charlie needs to take Emily to the marriage office like Gabriel did with Sylvia . Reassure her that he will not take for granted. Thank you for the updates. I’m loving it....
