"You're better off sticking with me. My Morrison isn't that petty!" Right as Magdalen spoke, her phone rang. She answered, her tone instantly turning sweet. "Morrison!"

"My stomach is acting up," Morrison complained over the line.

"What's wrong?" Magdalen asked immediately.

Morrison frowned. "I think someone added vinegar to my oatmeal this morning."

Magdalen was about to say she hadn't tasted any, but her large eyes rolled as she caught on. She laughed, caught between amusement and exasperation. "I think you're just full of it. Your heart is too small, and your appetite is too big!"

She hung up without another word.

Manley stood nearby, arms crossed, watching her with a highly amused expression.

Unembarrassed by being called out, Magdalen simply sighed. "He's learning all the bad habits from Jonathan!"

Manley turned on his heel, giving a cool wave as he walked away.

At ten in the morning, Emily made her appearance, her arm linked with Charlie's.
