Norah turned to look at him. "Henson, do you think he really doesn't like me?"
He held her gaze. "I think you know the answer to that better than anyone else."
Her eyes glazed over again. Did he like her?
Henson sighed, tilting his head and tapping his shoulder. "You can borrow this."
She leaned against him, suddenly realizing her younger brother's shoulders had grown broad and sturdy. A small smile cracked through her misery. "You've really grown up, Henson."
He scoffed. "You're the only one who refuses to grow up!"
She used to be the one dragging him around. Now, he was big enough to be her anchor.
Norah closed her eyes. "Growing up sucks. When you start dating, make sure you pick someone who actually likes you back."
He patted her shoulder comfortingly. "You just haven't met enough guys. You think Xavier is the only man on earth. Start going out on weekends, hit up some parties. There are tons of young, handsome guys out there who'd line up to marry you."
She let out a wet laugh, tears trembling on her lashes. "Look at you, giving relationship advice."
"Dating is just like taking a test," he said dismissively. "Do enough practice exams, crack a few tough questions, and the rest is a walk in the park."
She looked up. "Is Xavier a tough question?"
"He's the final boss of the Math Olympiad."
She froze for a second before bursting into laughter, sending the tears balancing on her lashes tumbling down.
They rolled to the corner of her mouth. Bitter and salty.
The Next Day
Henson was heading downstairs when he saw Norah getting ready to leave.
He eyed her, his voice cracking slightly as it was still changing. "Are you going to a party to meet men, or are you going back to tackle the Math Olympiad?"
Her face flushed. "Neither. I want to go bring Circe back."
She wanted to bring the cat home and formally say goodbye to Damian, Zachary, and the rest of the crew.
Xavier had slept in. He grabbed a quick bite for breakfast and headed to the kitchen to prep meat for Coco.
Right in the middle of the rush, Carol showed up.
Despite the rain, she was dressed to the nines. As soon as she walked in, she demanded, "Is Mr. Hanson here?"
Damian didn't know much about her, but since she was technically the Boss's girlfriend, he politely offered her a cup of tea. "He's in the kitchen. I'll go grab him!"
"Wait!" Carol called out, a faint smile playing on her lips. "How long has this place been open?"
"Three or four years," Damian replied.
"That long, huh?" A calculating gleam flashed in her eyes. "So, is your boss here every day?"
"Yep!"
She smiled wider. "Do you happen to know your boss's real identity?"

As the plot thicken. Adrian is done for and he can't try to control Norah, so he'd probably tattle to Janice who's gone for two weeks. Thank you soooo much for the updates....
