Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 3119

Norah was as sweet and pure as an angel. God wouldn't have the heart to take her away like this.

Xavier was covered in blood. He kept his eyes half-lowered, the whites of his eyes stained a furious red. When he finally spoke, his voice was nothing but a raspy croak.

“If she doesn’t make it, I’ll pay her back with my own life.”

Tears pricked Estelle’s eyes. She turned away and hurried after Jonathan.

The Lamont family was all there. Alcott had been on a business trip but was already rushing back. The group waited in agonizing silence outside the operating doors.

Henson looked at Estelle, his face pale. “Estelle, my sister is going to be okay, right?”

She nodded firmly. “Yes!”

Henson lowered his head, staring at the floor. “I should have stopped her from leaving the house this morning.”

Estelle placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. “No one can predict the future. You can’t blame yourself for this!”

Janice stood up and wrapped her arms gently around Estelle, letting out a quiet sob. “It’s my fault. I shouldn't have gone to see Xavier. I caused all of this.”

Feeling the older woman’s trembling fear, Estelle rubbed her back to soothe her. “It’s not your fault. It’s no one’s fault. It was an accident.”

The driver of the sports car had been trying to take a shortcut to the main road. Thinking the streets were empty because of the rain, he had been driving distracted. By the time he saw Norah, it was too late.

Rich, entitled kids never cared about the rules until it blew up in their faces.

The guy had some serious connections in J City and initially tried to find a fall guy to take the blame, but he quickly realized he had messed with the Lamonts.

The atmosphere outside the operating room was suffocating and dead quiet. Everyone breathed shallowly, terrified that making a sound might disturb some fragile balance.

Time had never dragged on so agonizingly.

Six hours later, the light above the doors finally clicked off. It was as if everyone woke from a collective nightmare. They swarmed the doors in an instant. Even Xavier straightened up and looked over from his spot by the wall.

Janice sat by the bed, gripping her daughter's hand tightly. She didn't dare blink, overwhelmed by the surreal feeling of having survived a nightmare.

Once things had settled, Catherine looked at Estelle with concern. “You’ve been here all day. Go home with Jonathan and rest.”

Estelle shook her head. “I want to be here when Norah wakes up.”

Jonathan wrapped an arm around her shoulders. “The doctor said she probably won’t wake up until tomorrow morning. I’ll take you home now, and you can come back first thing.”

He looked at his parents. “Henson and I will stay here with her. You two should head home.”

He had watched Norah grow up. Though she was his niece, he loved her like a daughter.

Janice insisted on staying as well, telling Jonathan to take Estelle home. “Alcott will be here in a few hours. Just go. I can stay by myself, and we have nurses.”

In the end, Janice and Henson stayed behind while the rest went home to rest before returning the next day.

After Estelle and the others left, Henson walked out into the courtyard and found Xavier sitting alone on a bench.
