Janice Harper wasn't home, so Catherine Lamont suggested sending a maid along to make sure Norah was safe.
Norah quickly shut that down. "Grandma, I have friends looking after me. Please don't send an escort. It'll just make things awkward while we're trying to hang out."
Catherine doted on her granddaughter and didn't want to upset her. She finally caved, sternly reminding Khloe to take good care of her.
Khloe and the others nodded vigorously, looking slightly intimidated.
Once they were safely outside the Lamont estate, Khloe patted her chest with a dramatic sigh. "Man, when your grandma was talking to me, I was so nervous I almost bit my tongue off."
Norah laughed. "She's incredibly sweet. What were you so scared of?"
"It's the aura! You know?" Khloe insisted. "That intense, authoritative vibe without even having to raise her voice."
As they chatted, Adrian Chambers stepped out of his car, a bouquet of flowers in hand. He looked surprised. "Norah, are you heading out?"
Norah nodded. "Yeah, just hanging out with some friends."
Khloe eyed Adrian and covertly nudged one of the other girls, wiggling her eyebrows in amusement.
Adrian didn't miss a beat. "I'll go with you."
Norah frowned. "It's a girls' trip. Why would you come along?"
Adrian looked concerned. "Are you sure your leg can handle it?"
She chuckled. "I'm not exactly going to be walking!"
Reluctantly, Adrian backed off. "What time are you coming back? I'll pick you up."
"How am I supposed to know right now?"
"Call me before you head home."
"Fine."
Later in the afternoon, a few of the girls had to leave, leaving only Khloe, Sara, and Norah.
Passing by a large bookstore, Norah suddenly remembered she needed a couple of French engineering translation textbooks. Khloe wheeled her inside.
The bookstore was expansive, featuring a cozy cafe and a lecture area. The rich scent of roasted coffee beans mingled with the smell of fresh paper, creating a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere.
Norah navigated her way toward the reference section while Khloe and Sara grabbed a table to sip lattes and post to their social media stories.
Rolling down the aisle of technical texts, Norah spotted the title she needed. Unfortunately, it was on a shelf just out of her reach.
She gripped the armrest of her wheelchair, bracing herself to stand up on one leg. Suddenly, a long, muscular arm reached past her, tapping the spine of a thick volume. "Is this the one?"
The man's voice was slightly raspy, deep, and incredibly magnetic. Startled, Norah looked up and froze.
Gonzalez Hanson.

As the plot thicken. Adrian is done for and he can't try to control Norah, so he'd probably tattle to Janice who's gone for two weeks. Thank you soooo much for the updates....
