Estelle offered a soft smile and nodded. Everything would depend on Norah herself.
*
The following Saturday.
The weather was miserable, with heavy rain pouring since dawn.
Henson dragged Norah into playing video games. She was terrible at it, but surprisingly hooked.
With Henson and Estelle carrying her through the matches, they managed to grind her rookie character up to level twenty by the end of the morning.
During lunch, the two were still debating gaming strategies.
Watching Norah and Henson bicker playfully, Janice couldn't help but feel a profound sense of warmth.
After lunch, Norah returned to her room to rest. A nagging feeling tugged at her, like she had forgotten to do something.
It wasn't until her eyes landed on the textbooks she had bought last week that it hit her—she had promised to tutor Gonzalez at the bookstore today.
Even though she hadn't made a rock-solid commitment, blowing him off on the very first day felt incredibly rude.
She glanced out the window at the torrential downpour. Hesitating for only a second, she pushed herself up from the wheelchair and went to change her clothes.
Janice and Catherine Lamont were chatting in the living room. Seeing Norah step off the elevator fully dressed to go out, they looked surprised. "Where are you going in this storm?"
Norah stammered slightly. "I just... remembered I promised to meet a friend today."
Catherine frowned at the rain lashing against the glass. "Can't you cancel?"
"We made these plans a while ago!" Norah insisted.
Janice grabbed an umbrella and walked her out. "Be back early."
"I will!"
The family driver was already waiting by the door. He took the umbrella from Janice and wheeled Norah to the car.
She looked up and caught sight of Gonzalez through the glass, immediately flashing a bright, radiant smile.
That single smile seemed to part the gloomy sky, like sunlight breaking through heavy clouds. In an instant, his entire world burst into vivid color.
Gonzalez stared greedily at her smile for a long moment before standing up and striding toward the entrance.
As Norah stepped out of the car, Gonzalez was already standing in front of her. A faint smile touched his usually hardened features. "I didn't think you'd actually come."
Sheltered beneath her umbrella, Norah gave him a sweet, innocent look. "I promised you. Of course I came!"
Gonzalez's lips curved upward. "Thank you."
Just then, a cyclist sped recklessly toward them, tires kicking up a massive spray of water. Gonzalez frowned and immediately leaned over, shielding Norah with his body.
In the same second, the bike blew past, soaking the entire back of Gonzalez's shirt with muddy water.
The sudden, overwhelming proximity of the man startled Norah. She instantly stiffened and shrank back into her seat.

As the plot thicken. Adrian is done for and he can't try to control Norah, so he'd probably tattle to Janice who's gone for two weeks. Thank you soooo much for the updates....
