Norah raised an eyebrow. "You think Caleb and Lorelei will try to get back at me? I'm not scared of them!"

Gonzalez looked at her, his gaze a mix of helplessness and deep affection. "It's not about being scared. When you're out and about, you stay far away from anyone who might bring you trouble. Understand?"

Norah's eyes darted away, and she didn't argue further.

Adrian took long strides toward them, deliberately inserting himself between Norah and Gonzalez. "Norah, I'll help you. You don't need an outsider's help!"

Gonzalez ran his tongue over his back teeth, suppressing his irritation. This time, he didn't bother engaging with Adrian.

The group cleaned up the remnants of last night's campsite, restoring the lawn to its original state.

Just as they were preparing to leave the valley, Holly walked over again, holding a small bag out to Norah. "Norah, here's some dried tofu and a few other snacks. I noticed you really liked them last night, so I'm giving you the rest. It was really great meeting you!"

Perhaps because Norah had helped her out of a tight spot the previous night, Holly had taken a strong liking to her.

Human connections were strange like that. Some people clicked the moment they met, while others rubbed each other the wrong way at first glance.

Norah and Holly were definitely the former.

Smiling, Norah accepted the treats and handed over a portion of her own stash in return. "It was great meeting you, too!"

Holly offered a warm, genuine smile. "If we all have free time, we should go on another trip together."

"Absolutely!"

As the two women were chatting, Caleb suddenly rushed over, his steps hurried and his expression panicked. "What are you guys talking about?"

Norah raised an eyebrow. She was a woman, so surely Lorelei wasn't running around claiming Gonzalez had seduced her?

Catching onto Norah's train of thought, Gonzalez's expression darkened, and he shot her a warning glare.

Norah couldn't help but stifle a laugh. She turned her attention back to Caleb. "Stop speaking in riddles. If you have something to say, spit it out!"

"Yeah!" Holly was completely baffled. "What exactly happened?"

Lorelei jogged over and tugged on Caleb's arm. "Just let it go. It wasn't that expensive anyway. I'll just consider it lost!"

"It's thousands of dollars!" Caleb exclaimed in exaggerated shock. "How can you just let that go? That's grand theft!"

Lorelei shot him a pointed look. "We really don't need to look for it. I'll just have my dad buy me a new one when I get home!"
