Sara agreed. "Barbecue is a great choice. The sizzling grill is perfect for celebrating a new place."

"Where should we go?" Adrian asked.

"I know a spot," Magdalen replied. "It's not a five-star joint, but the food is incredibly authentic."

"Where?" Norah asked.

Magdalen looked at her. "The barbecue restaurant near the Movie Center."

Hearing the location, a loud buzz echoed in Norah's head. A dull, swelling ache settled in her temples, and her gaze grew distant. "I think I've been there."

Magdalen offered a meaningful smile. "You probably have. It's pretty famous around the Movie Center. Packed every single day."

Adrian's smile faded slightly. "Isn't that a bit too far?"

"As long as the food is good, who cares about the distance?" Sara laughed. "If Ms. Sampson recommends it, it has to be amazing. I'm all for it!"

Adrian shot her a sideways glance and scoffed. "Your flattery skills are improving by the second."

Sensing his mood shift into genuine annoyance, Sara wasn't sure what she had said wrong. Wasn't he just joking?

Magdalen made the final call. "Then it's settled. Since it's far, let's head out now."

"Jonathan isn't here yet," Norah pointed out.

Estelle checked her watch and smiled faintly. "We won't wait. I'll text him to meet us directly at the restaurant."

Everyone agreed, and Adrian kept his mouth shut as they headed out together.

Sara and Norah rode in Adrian's car, while Estelle held Kya and rode with Emily in Magdalen's car.

Once inside, Emily voiced her concern. "Will taking Norah to the restaurant out of nowhere trigger her?"

Jonathan remained quiet. Only the low hum of his car engine came through the line.

"Are you mad?" Estelle asked gently.

A low, indulgent chuckle escaped Jonathan's lips. "Being mad at you is just punishing myself. Neither of us is wrong. We just want what's best for Norah."

Estelle pressed her lips together. "Thank you, Jonathan."

"You only use that tone when you know you're in the wrong," he teased. "Looks like you're feeling guilty."

Estelle just smiled.

His tone softened further. "I'm stuck in some traffic and might be late. Go ahead and order when you get there. Don't wait for me."

"Okay, no rush," she replied softly.
