"That doesn't matter!" Norah cried out.
A sharp, agonizing pain pierced Gonzalez's chest, feeling horribly like karmic retribution. He took a deep, steadying breath, his gaze locked onto her. "If you take age and generations out of it, do you have feelings for me?"
"No!" The denial shot out of her mouth without a second of hesitation.
Gonzalez's pupils contracted violently. "No?" he repeated, his voice hoarse.
Norah bit her lip, forcing herself to nod. "No."
A dull, suffocating ache spread through his ribs. His eyes darkened with absolute despair as he asked one final, desperate question. "Not even a little bit?"
Perhaps terrified of hurting him further, Norah didn't say a word.
But in that heavy silence, her refusal was deafening.
Gonzalez lowered his dark eyes. His broad, towering frame seemed to shrink into a solitary, tragic shadow in the darkness.
After an agonizing stretch of silence, Norah murmured, "I'm going home."
He didn't try to stop her.
She slipped past him, her footsteps light and hurried. She didn't look back once, quickly vanishing into the blacked-out hallway, leaving behind only the lingering, sweet scent of her perfume.
Back in her own apartment, Norah leaned back against the front door, feeling as if every ounce of strength had been drained from her body. She stood there, completely motionless.
The apartment was swallowed in shadows, the only light coming from the faint glow of the city skyline filtering through the windows, making the space feel incredibly empty and desolate.
She forced herself to move, walking over to the balcony where it was marginally brighter.
Staring out at the sprawling, glittering city lights through the rain, the darkness behind her felt a little less suffocating.
Her mind kept replaying his confession, and a heavy, irresolvable knot twisted in her stomach.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of her front door opening. Slow, deliberate footsteps approached, stopping just behind her. She didn't need to turn around to know it was him; his overwhelming presence filled the room.

As the plot thicken. Adrian is done for and he can't try to control Norah, so he'd probably tattle to Janice who's gone for two weeks. Thank you soooo much for the updates....
These updates were too funny. Thank you so much for the updates....
I forgot to add Amy to the group of pregnant women, since she was the first. Emily and Sylvia better be careful since pregnancy is in the air....
Wow! This is great, both Estelle and Magdalen are pregnant at the same time and I hope that Xavier is Norah neighbor. Thank you for the updates....
