He was a sniper. His greatest assets were calmness and patience, but in this moment, he wanted those instincts to go straight to hell!
He didn't need to worry about being proper or the fact that she was drunk. She liked him anyway; sooner or later, she would be his!
But Norah took a step back, turned away, and mumbled, "Alright, you can go now!"
Gonzalez was completely speechless.
His immense self-control forced him to turn around and pull her door shut.
Only when he was out in the hall did his breathing finally turn ragged. He didn't leave immediately, afraid she might slip and fall. He listened closely to the sounds inside, his body uncontrollably tense. He wasn't sure when this tightly wound string might finally snap.
Listening to the sound of splashing water and her humming a tune, the man leaned against the door and let out a low chuckle. How could there be such an adorable girl?
After what felt like an eternity, he heard the rustle of clothes. Waiting a moment longer, he opened the door.
The girl walked out, enveloped in a cloud of steam. Water droplets clung to her luminous, flushed cheeks, and her wet hair hung loose. She looked at him in surprise. "Uncle Gonzalez, were you peeping at me in the shower?"
Gonzalez wasn't about to argue with a drunk woman. He took the towel from her hands and roughly dried her hair. "Norah Lamont, if you ever dare to get this drunk again, I'm throwing you into coco's bed!"
Norah's eyes suddenly welled up with tears. She looked up at him pitifully. "You don't want me anymore? Are you rejecting me again?"
"No!" The man planted a hard kiss on her lips. "Go to sleep once your hair is dry."
Norah instantly smiled through her tears. "You blow-dry it for me."
Gonzalez simply scooped her up into his arms, set her on the bed, and grabbed the hairdryer.
He wasn't used to doing such delicate tasks. Between that and his racing heart, his movements were almost clumsy.
Norah melted against him, practically boneless, murmuring to herself. "Going back to the barbecue restaurant today... I was so happy, but also so sad."
"It reminded me of when I used to chase after you, and you constantly rejected me. You must have thought I was so shameless back then."
"I thought so too, but I really couldn't control myself."
