Phoebe's face underwent a horrifying transformation. She bolted upright, her voice shrill and desperate. "Why are you framing me? How much did they pay you to lie?"
Aunt Charlotte went on the offensive immediately. "Isn't it obvious what's happening here? The second Mr. Foster arrives, the source of this gadget is miraculously tracked down. I was wondering how he managed it so fast! This was all prearranged, wasn't it? Bringing in a fake technician to pin the blame on our Phoebe. It's a pathetic strategy!"
Grandma Evert's face was etched with disbelief. "You're saying Phoebe planted this? The poor girl has been losing sleep for days. Her health is deteriorating. Why would she intentionally torture herself?"
"To frame me, obviously," Marina replied coldly. "A sympathy play. Hasn't Grandma ever heard of it?"
Tears spilled down Phoebe's cheeks in heavy, pathetic drops. Her eyes were red and she hiccuped through her sobs. "Marina, we're sisters. How could you think of me like that? Even when everyone in this room was pointing the finger at you, I kept telling them it wasn't you! We're cousins, but to me, you're my own flesh and blood. I believed in you so much, yet you actually think I would try to destroy you!"
The girl's performance was gut-wrenching and heartfelt, swaying the emotions of the elders in the room. They looked at her with profound pity—and glared at Marina with mounting disgust.
Marina almost laughed out loud. Phoebe defended her? Funny, she didn't hear Phoebe utter a single word in her defense while the entire family was relentlessly accusing her before Carson showed up.
She only started playing the saint after Carson arrived.
But of course, no one else noticed the timing. They just followed Phoebe's cue to villainize Marina.
Carson stood firmly by Marina's side, his gaze sweeping over the furious Evert family. "I hope that when you all see the truth, you'll direct this exact same anger at the person who actually orchestrated this."
He turned to the programmer. "How do you know it was Phoebe Evert?"
The programmer pulled out his phone. "I have the entire WhatsApp chat history right here. The transfer receipts, the voice notes, and every specific demand she made. It's all logged."
"Let me see that!" Rhiannon snatched the phone immediately.
The WhatsApp profile that placed the order unmistakably belonged to Phoebe. The phone number matched. The chat logs clearly showed the buyer demanding the programmer hack into Marina's car system the moment she returned to the estate, allowing the radar to track her precisely.
The conversation was crystal clear.
Trembling with vindication, Rhiannon shoved the phone into Grandpa and Grandma Evert's hands. "Mom, Dad, this is Phoebe's burner account. You recognize it, don't you? Look at it yourselves!"
