Marina headed back to the Evert family estate. Everyone was gathered in the living room. Mrs. Evert beamed when she saw her granddaughter. "Marina's back!"

Phoebe was sitting on the sofa and stood up to offer her a fruit platter. "A colleague had these flown in from overseas. They're incredibly fresh."

Mrs. Evert chuckled. "Is that Warren Griffith boy still chasing you? He's always sending things to the house!"

Phoebe put on a shy, modest expression. "No, nothing like that. I just helped him with a small favor, and he was thanking me."

Mrs. Evert patted Phoebe's hand happily. "He's a good kid, very handsome, and his family's background matches ours perfectly. If you like him, Grandma certainly wouldn't object!"

Marina had seen this Warren guy drop things off once before. He was Andrew's cousin and worked with Phoebe.

Ever since Andrew's fiancée had harmed Kya, Carson had effectively exiled him from their social circle, and no one had seen him in ages.

Rhiannon, who hadn't seen Marina all week, peeled a tangerine for her. "Have you lost weight? Have you been working late again?"

Mrs. Evert looked over, her tone thick with concern. "She definitely looks thinner. Her chin is practically pointed. If you're not eating well out there, just move back home!"

Aunt Charlotte let out a dry, grating laugh. "Isn't she living with Mr. Foster? Is he not taking good care of you?"

"He takes great care of me," Marina replied smoothly. "I've just been busy with work."

Suddenly, Phoebe chimed in. "Wait, isn't my sister staying at a hotel?"

The room went dead silent. Marina looked at Phoebe in surprise.

Phoebe widened her eyes, feigning perfect innocence. "Oh, did I say something wrong? I was picking up a client at a hotel with some colleagues the other day, and I happened to see you walking out of there."

Rhiannon's face fell. "Marina, didn't you say you were staying at Carson's place?"

Mrs. Evert's brow furrowed deeply. "Are you and Carson having problems? Even if you had a fight and moved out, you should have come home. Why on earth would you stay in a hotel?"
