After they ate, Marina cleaned up the kitchen. She was drying the last plate and putting it in the cabinet when a pair of arms suddenly wrapped around her from behind.

Carson leaned down, pressing kisses to her neck.

Marina realized her body was becoming increasingly sensitive; a mere touch from him made her weaken and tremble.

Carson gripped her slender waist, turning her around, then lifted her onto the counter and leaned in to kiss her.

Marina leaned back to dodge him. "Don't you need to rest?"

Carson cupped her face and kissed her deeply. "We're full. We need something to do to digest before we rest."

Marina was speechless.

The afternoon seemed to slip by in a flash. By the time Marina woke up again, it was dark out.

She looked out the window, a little disappointed she had missed the sunset.

The Riverside Apartments, as the name suggested, were situated right along J City's famous river. Standing on the balcony offered a stunning view of the sunset over the water.

Carson's apartment had the best view in the building. Marina figured the real estate agent must have shown him the place right at dusk, leaving him so awestruck that he bought it on the spot.

Carson was working in his study. Seeing her awake, he brought over a robe and draped it over her shoulders. "Get up," he said gently. "Let's go get dinner."

They headed to George's restaurant for dinner.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Marina smiled. "Didn't you say you only go to this restaurant when you're in a bad mood? Are you in a bad mood today?"

Carson's smile was soft. "On the contrary. I go when I'm in an incredibly good mood, too!"

Marina pursed her lips and looked away.

When they arrived at the restaurant, George came over to chat. His blue eyes fixed on Marina, and he offered a polite, elegant smile. "Ms. Evert, your relationship with Carson seems different now!"

Phoebe was curious. "Who?"

Warren looked mysterious. "Nocturne!"

Phoebe's eyes lit up. She was a huge fan of his.

Warren smiled. "Management assigned me to host him. We'll be discussing his exhibition entries for about two hours. Want to tag along?"

Phoebe was tempted. "I actually don't have any plans this afternoon."

Warren laughed. "I hear Nocturne is young and really handsome. My two cousins found out he's coming and begged me to get his autograph!"

Phoebe grew even more excited. "What time is he arriving?"

"Three o'clock."
