Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 3624

Phoebe changed out of the dress and took it upstairs to her room. The moment she walked in, she saw the autograph from Nocturne sitting on her desk, and a wave of melancholy washed over her joy.

Stripping away status and wealth, her heart leaned toward Nocturne. But she knew nothing about his background, and logic dictated that marrying Carson was the best possible choice.

Packing away the autograph book and Nocturne's artwork, Phoebe pushed those thoughts aside, focusing solely on tomorrow's engagement.

Later that night, Rhiannon knocked and entered Marina's room. Seeing her still working at her laptop, she frowned. "Leave the work for tomorrow. Don't exhaust yourself. Your health is more important."

Marina looked at the data reports on her screen and gave a faint nod. "I'm almost done."

Rhiannon stepped out and returned a few minutes later with a glass of warm milk, placing it next to Marina's hand. She hesitated for a moment before carefully asking, "Marina, are you going to the engagement party tomorrow?"

Marina's expression was perfectly calm. "Yes."

He had sent her an invitation, so she would go.

"Maybe it's best if you don't," Rhiannon said gently. "Your grandmother doesn't want you there either. She's afraid you'll feel terrible."

Marina's fingers paused over the keyboard. She turned to look at Rhiannon. "Is Grandma afraid I'll feel terrible, or is she afraid Phoebe will feel awkward? Or maybe she's worried I'll ruin the engagement?"

Rhiannon froze.

She sighed deeply. "Regardless of who your grandmother is thinking about, she has a point. You and Phoebe shouldn't be in the same room for an occasion like this. It'll just look bad for everyone."

She continued, "It actually works out. Since the Foster family pulled their funding from the CM project, your father and I found another investor. We set up a meeting for tomorrow at noon, so you can go handle that instead."

After a moment of silence, Marina nodded. "Understood."

Rhiannon looked at her, her heart aching. "Do you regret it?"
