Crystal greeted Charlie with a sweet smile. “Charlie, when did you arrive?”

Charlie glanced at Crystal, his expression briefly darkening before he managed a faint smile. “I happened to be passing by, so I thought I’d stop by to see Emily.” Crystal poured a glass of water for Charlie, subtly emphasizing her chest as she spoke in a soft tone. “Earlier this morning, Emily was wondering when you would come. She didn’t expect you to be here so soon.”

Emily’s brow furrowed slightly, feeling a sense of unease. When had she mentioned anything about Charlie earlier in the morning?

Charlie accepted the water with a polite smile. “Perhaps it’s just a coincidence.”

A flush of embarrassment spread across Emily’s face, but she couldn’t find the words to explain herself in front of Charlie.

Charlie was indeed just passing by, he had other things going on. After chatting for a bit, he got up to leave.

Crystal insisted on walking Charlie out, all the way to the elevator. She tilted her head up to look at him and smiled gently, “Charlie, let’s add each other on WhatsApp, so I can update you on Emily anytime.”

“Sure!” Charlie immediately agreed and they added each other on WhatsApp.

Hiding her excitement, Crystal saw the elevator arrive. She tilted her head, pretending to be cute and waved goodbye to Charlie, “Charlie, see you later!”

Charlie nodded while smiling, entered the elevator, and saw the woman still looking at him with her head tilted.

As the elevator doors closed, Charlie’s smile faded, and he let out a quiet snort.

Later that night, while attending a party, Charlie’s phone buzzed with a message from Crystal. Opening it, he was greeted with a picture of her holding a bottle of red wine, pressing it against her face while making a provocative kissing gesture.

“Charlie, is this your wine? Can you invite me for a drink?”

Seeing no response from Charlie, Crystal was a bit annoyed. Seeing Emily asleep, she went to the kitchen, got a wine glass, opened the wine, poured half a glass, and went to the living room to take selfies.

“That bottle of wine must be a million dollars, right? So luxurious, I’m so jealous!”

The comments praised Crystal for being beautiful and rich, even some of her colleagues who looked down on her joined in the comments, satisfying her vanity.
