Mrs. Lamont nodded, “I don’t think it’s likely either. Your dad is too busy to even come home on weekends, how could he have time to meet with Ms. Macclain? Besides, he’s not that kind of guy!”
Henson’s face was serious as he firmly said, “No way! Absolutely impossible!”
Mrs. Lamont felt relieved, “Maybe I’m just overthinking it, like you said, Yvonne probably just wanted to compliment Ella.”
Henson grinned with a silly smile.
Mrs. Lamont completely relaxed, waved her hand, and said, “Off you go, I’m going to catch up on my TV shows!”
Henson went upstairs and saw his grandma completely engrossed in the TV show. He couldn’t help but think of what his mom always said about his dad being a typical high IQ, low EQ person, clueless about the ways of the world. Now he knew who his dad got it from.
Carson called Emily several times to visit her, but she always rejected him. So, he turned to Charlie.
“Charlie, do you know where Emily lives? I want to visit her!”
Charlie said in a flat tone, “Carson, Emily is not in our league, don’t mess with her!”
Carson’s tone was serious, “Charlie, I’m legit this time. I know Emily is different from other girls. That’s why I’m smitten.”
Charlie frowned slightly, “Are you for real?”
“Totally!” Carson laughed.
Charlie revealed, “She’s living in my Royal Mansion. I’ll send you the address. Don’t get me wrong. Jonathan called me and said that one of Estelle’s friends needed to use my place; I only found out it was Emily later.”
“Got it!”
Jonathan hung up, went back to the bedroom.
The autumn evening was short. In just a short while, the light in the room grew dimmer, and the warm yellow turned into a duskier hue.
Jonathan couldn’t resist the allure of Estelle’s peaceful slumber, and he found himself leaning down to caress her face tenderly, planting a gentle kiss on her lips.
He knew he was captivated by her, utterly addicted, craving her presence like a potent drug. The desire to keep her close, to possess her entirely, overwhelmed him.
As Estelle gradually woke from her sleep, her eyes met Jonathan’s intense and penetrating gaze. The intensity of his gaze left her momentarily disoriented, unsure of the time or her surroundings.
Seizing the opportunity, Jonathan delighted in her state of confusion and deepened their connection with a passionate kiss.
