Emily immediately turned her head to look.

Elliott appeared first, dragging a suitcase and threw it forcefully on the steps below.

Crystal was sobbing nonstop, annoyingly trying to appease Elliott, even wanting to kneel down and beg for mercy.

Elliott threw the suitcase and just turned away.

Seemed like Elliott hadn’t hit her nor went soft on her. Emily felt relieved.

Crystal was lying on the ground, crying her eyes out, attracting many people to open their windows and look down.

She cried for a while, and seeing that Elliott really didn’t soften up, she finally dragged the suitcase and left.

Charlie asked, “Do you want to go up and see your brother?”

Emily thought for a moment and shook her head, “No, I think my brother would rather be alone for a while now.” 

Charlie nodded, “Then I’ll take you back!”

On the way back, the two didn’t speak much. Crystal’s ending made Emily feel quite pleased, but she still felt bad for her brother.

Charlie’s phone kept ringing, but he didn’t answer and just hung up.

Emily said, “I’ll take a cab back by myself.”

Charlie replied, “No worries, I’m not busy!”

Half an hour later, the car stopped downstairs Emily’s place, and Charlie said, “Don’t overthink things when you go back. Today is an end, and everything will get better from now on!”

Emily nodded, she wanted to say, “Thank God, you’re here!”

But that sentence seemed too easily misunderstood, knowing she owed him so much, so much that words would seem insincere. She looked at him sincerely, smiling with her dimples showing, “For our family, it’s also a second chance at life. I appreciate your kind words and I believe everything will be okay!”
