Chapter 63
Estelle nodded and sat down on the sofa next to him.
This was her first time in the master bedroom, which was much larger than the side bedroom. There was a separate small den near the balcony that had a sofa and a bookshelf.
Jonathan took a sip of the tea and tumed to look at Estelle, asking softly, “The guy in the hallway today, was he confessing his love to you?”
The sofa was wide, so Estelle put her feet up and nodded, “Yeah.”
Jonathan held the tea, recalling the scene, “He was quite a handsome guy, did you say yes?”
Estelle responded indifferently. “No.”
The man asked, “Why not? Don’t you like him?”
Estelle kept her expressionless face, “I’m afraid that if I accept him, I’ll lose this cheap rental deal on this place.”
Jonathan chuckled, and because he had been drinking, his voice was low and mellow, sounding exceptionally pleasant.
He moved closer to her, lifted her chin with his hand, his eyes full of affection, “You know, with your beauty, you don’t have to worry about not having a place to live.” Estelle looked back at him, “I just want a one–of–a–kind place.”
The man narrowed his eyes, “What is a one–of–a–kind place?”
Estelle blinked, “A place that I like would be one–of–a–kind.”
Jonathan leaned in, his voice lower and with a hint of seduction, “Do you like me or the house?”
Estelle hesitated for a moment, then replied, “The house.”
“Do you like me, or the happiness I give you?”
Estelle answered. “I like the happiness”
Jonathan slowly smiled, his eyes sparkling as if he was satisfied with her answer, and he said in a low tone, “Remember your answer today, because if your answer was ‘me, both the house‘ and ‘happiness‘ will be gone.
Estelle looked at him quietly without saying a word
He lifted her onto his lap and kissed her as he held her down on the sofa.
Jonathan went back to his room before three o’clock, and Estelle, after taking a bath, lay down in bed and fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
At dawn, Estelle’s phone on the bedside table rang. She could barely open her eyes, picked up the phone and mumbled a few words, then continued sleeping.
At eight o’clock, Estelle got up to find that Jonathan had already left
There was a some takeout bags from a five–star hotel’s kitchen on the table.
She went back to her room to wash up, get dressed, ate breakfast, and went to class.
During class, she suddenly remembered the phone call in the morning, took out her phone, and saw that it was Bennett who had called her.
In that instant, she also remembered the content of the call.
Bennett had told her that there was a gathering at the old house this weekend, and he invited her to join.
