Gabriel squinted his eyes and asked, “You folks from Eagle Valley? The ones tailing Estelle?”
“Yeah, there’s been a bit of a misunderstanding. Goshawk didn’t mean to hurt Estelle, he knows he screwed up.” Amiee replied calmly.
Josiah kept his head down, not putting up any resistance even when threatened by Gabriel.
Gabriel let go of Josiah’s hand, looking conflicted. He turned to his men, “Take them to Stella.”
“Thanks, Gab! Amiee bowed her head gratefully.
In a sunny room, Estelle’s wounds were all treated. She wore a white nightgown, lying quietly in bed.
She looked as if she were asleep, only her face was pale.
The maid was applying a warm compress to the swollen area from the IV. When she saw people coming in, she left the room.
Seeing Estelle on the bed, Josiah was filled with regret and guilt. His fingers trembled uncontrollably, choking up with emotion. He knelt down.
He’d been such an idiot! Even if he hadn’t recognized her, she was an innocent girl!
Why targeted her? Why helped Yvonne hurt her?
He’d done so many stupid things to her, yet she never blamed him. Even in danger, she protected him.
He went straight to Yvonne’s house
Yvonne had just retumed from a photoshoot and was discussing tomorrow’s schedule with her assistant, laughing and chatting. The assistant was startled when she saw the furious Josiah at the door.
Josiah pushed the door open and walked straight into the living room. Yvonne stood up, looking surprised at him.
“Surprised to see me alive?” Josiah asked, his face serious
Yvonne avoided his gaze, laughed awkwardly and said, Josiah, what are you talking about? Have you been drinking?” Josiah’s tone was even colder, “Yvonne, no point playing dumb: I may have done many stupid things, but no more.” Yvonne was taken aback, turned to her confused assistant, and laughed, “Cynia, you can go home. I’ll call you later.” “Alright!” The assistant quickly responded, picked up her bag, closed the door and left
