Chapter 15
Jared was momentarily at a loss for words because of what I said.He did care deeply for Emily’s well–being, often preparing sweet berries when she took her healing herbs.
But wasn’t he atoning for my perceived failings? Wasn’t it all for my own good? Yet, I’d embarrassed him, and his wolf felt the sting of
humiliation.
He glanced at Grayson, his irritation escalating.
And it was in front of his nemesis! His wolf bristled at the added insult.
“Isabella, I was doing this for your own good. If you continue to be so stubborn and ungrateful, don’t call me brother anymore!”
His wolf’s dominance was clear in his tone, a challenge to my defiance.
He expected me to back down, as I always had.
In the past, whenever he issued such a threat, I would immediately apologize and sweetly call him “brother” to appease him.
But this time, I simply offered him a fleeting glance.
“Okay, Alpha Miller.” The three words hung in the air, light and airy, yet carrying the weight of my defiance.
My she–wolf felt a surge of rebellious energy.
Jared stood there, stunned.
Then, a wave of furious energy surged through him!
His face darkened as he threatened, “If you keep acting up, I truly will abandon you.” His wolf snarled, its dominance challenged.
Before I could respond, Grayson suddenly clapped his hands, a playful smirk on his lips.
His wolf’s amusement was palpable.
“If you don’t want her, I do. Isabella, call me ‘brother‘,” he said, his tone lazy and arrogant, infuriatingly charming.
His wolf’s confidence was evident.
I reacted instantly.
“Brother.”
My wolf felt a curious pull toward his strength, despite my better judgment.
A flicker of surprise, and something akin to genuine amusement, crossed Grayson’s deep eyes, making his smirk even more
mischievous.
He reached out, gently touching my head.
His touch sent a shiver down my spine.
His wolf’s scent–musky and powerful–surrounded me.
“Good girl.”
There was a hint of genuine affection, a subtle shift in his demeanor.

Chapter 15
His wolf seemed softened, though only slightly.
Jared found it unbearable.
Merus
He hadn’t expected me to defy him so openly, calling another wolf “brother‘ in front of him! He felt his authority had been seriously challenged; his wolf roared with indignation.
With a grim face, he snapped, “Do you still want your pack share?
His wolf’s anger was raw.
I scoffed.
This was one of their usual tactics to force my submission, but my pack share had long been withheld due to their repeated attempts to appease Emily.
I replied calmly and coldly, “The Miller pack hasn’t provided me with a pack share in a long time.” My wolf felt no regret.
“How is that possible?” Jared looked incredulous.
His wolf was baffled.
“Big Brother has the Pack Treasurer transfer shares to all our accounts every moon cycle. How could you not have any?”
His wolf whined, confused.
