Chapter 159
I caught his meaning and smirked coldly.
My wolf felt a surge of bitter resentment.
Letting Emily wait even a second longer was unacceptable–but what about me?
The memory flooded back, sharp and painful. In my past life, Alexander’s racing sled needed parts; I’d gone all the way to the Silvermoon port to pick up the engine.
Customs had delayed me, and I’d called Alexander repeatedly.
But he, preoccupied with his games with Emily, had dismissed my calls, blocking my mental link. I’d waited at customs until closing, missed the last moon–cycle transport, and walked for hours in the freezing wind to find a ride.
Reaching home late at night, instead of concern, I’d received his sharp rebuke:“Why did this take so long on such an important task?!” My wolf growled, remembering the injustice.
My gaze turned icy. My wolf bared her fangs, barely perceptible under my lips.
“What’s that look?” Alexander yelled, his voice laced with suspicion.
His wolf’s scent was sharp and defensive.“Like a wolf cub! Who are you glaring at like that?” His wolf was clearly agitated, feeling my rising aggression. He approached me, his stance threatening.“You don’t want our blood bond; but you’re making things difficult for Emily! You don’t want the moonstone fashion show spot; but you’re humiliating Emily on purpose!”
His wolf’s accusations were sharp and piercing.
Under the bright moon, I laughed, a clear, chilling sound that resonated in the clearing. My wolf felt a fierce satisfaction, enjoying
Alexander’s discomfort.
Alexander’s face darkened instantly.
His wolf’s scent shifted–from defensive to enraged.
‘What are you laughing at?!”
“I’m laughing because you took the competition spot from me to give it to Emily,” I said, my gaze sharp and unwavering.
My wolf’s growl rumbled in my chest.“Didn’t you know the top ten qualify for the moonstone fashion show?” My wolf felt a pang of
victory.
His face darkened. He was speechless.
His wolf’s confusion was evident.
“Oh, right, you didn’t know,” I said sarcastically, my voice icy.“Because Emily didn’t even make the top ten. How did her designs rack up so many awards before?” My wolf reveled in his discomfort.
This struck him like a physical blow.
Emily trembled, hiding behind Alexander, her eyes flickering nervously.
Her wolf’s scent was weak, betraying her fear.
“She was busy recently!” Alexander defended her, but I cut him off coldly. My wolf’s claws extended involuntarily.

“No need to explain to me,” I glanced at Emily’s evasive face, disdain dripping from my tone.“Stolen things don’t last. But if she can steal for a lifetime, that’s her skill.”
My wolf’s memories flashed – the painful betrayal of my past life, where Emily had stolen from me constantly, aided by the Miller brothers.
Caleb shuddered, his mind bombarded with chaotic, dizzying images. His wolf seemed to be collapsing under the weight of the revelation.
Alexander, oblivious to the truth, frowned, his anger rising.
His wolf was clearly on the defensive.“What stealing? Don’t talk trash! Emily just had a creative clash with that person!”
I looked at him with cold sarcasm.“So what? Did your dear sister receive the infringement howl from Nina Finch?”
Emily’s face paled; she trembled uncontrollably.
Her wolf’s scent was a mix of fear and guilt.
She’d hidden the howl from Alexander; how did I know?
My wolf felt a strange satisfaction.
Alexander frowned, displeasure evident in his eyes. His wolf’s growl rumbled low. He raised his voice, disdainful.
“A renowned designer fussing over a newbie’s petty theft? Pathetic.”
I laughed at his brazenness. My wolf’s snarl echoed in my mind.
Now Emily spies on Nina’s work, and when Nina holds her accountable, she’s the petty one. In my past life, a shop owner had simply downloaded Emily’s designs online, printed them, and Alexander had sued him for a fortune, ruining the poor man and forcing his shop to close! My wolf’s anger flared a righteous fire against the injustice.
