Chapter 2
Every time Emily whimpered, my wolf felt the brunt of their fury.
I was punished, always.
At first, I was totally confused..
What had I done?
I tried everything to suck up to my brothers–dropping rare gifts on them, tiptoeing around Emily.
What did my constant subservience earn me?
Emily’s academic standing was abysmal, yet she desired to study abroad at the prestigious ShadowClan Academy.
Caleb, my eldest brother and Alpha of the main line, snatched my application–guaranteed acceptance–and handed it to her.
Later, Emily, feigning a dire illness, required a Blood–Core Replacement.
Caleb straight–up dragged me to the Pack Healer to donate vital heart–blood.
I discovered irrefutable proof–Emily had falsified her medical records and embezzled Pack resources.
I presented this evidence to my brothers, hoping for justice.
Instead, I ignited their rage.
No one believed me.
Mason, Jared, and Alexander, powerful Alphas in their own right, leapt to her defense.
They condemned me without a hearing, casting me out to the Moonstone Prison, a desolate place where rogue wolves are banished.
Three years in Moonstone, a living hell.
My spirit almost broke.
My brothers, in their misplaced loyalty, ordered the guards to inflict brutal punishments upon me for Emily’s sake.
The other she–wolves and he–wolves there were merciless.
Emily.
Without a word, I bolted for the latrine and locked the door.
Let the tears soak into the earth where no one could hear my wolf whimper.
Returning, chaos reigned.
Screams.
Panic.
A stampede.
My wolf sensed the powerful shift in the pack’s energy, a deep tremor of fear and urgency that sent shivers down my spine.
My gut screamed danger.
