Chapter 213
Emily knew mentioning my name would enrage Andrew.
*He’s so easily manipulated,* my wolf thought with a cynical amusement. Such a predictable Alpha.*
I had dared to take what she considered hers.
A calculated smile played on her lips.
“Andrew, let’s retrieve Alexander. He must have suffered greatly.”
“Okay,” Andrew growled, a low rumble of frustration–a sound my wolf recognized as suppressed rage.
*He’s torn between his anger towards me and his concern for his brother,* I realized.
Emily’s words, seemingly compassionate, only fueled Andrew’s disgust for me.
*Why couldn’t I be as submissive as Emily?*
His thoughts were clear to my heightened senses.
His wolf was confused, torn.
Softened, he took Emily’s paw and left to collect Alexander from the exile grounds.

The exile grounds were cold, damp, and reeked of despair. Alexander huddled in a corner, filthy and gaunt. His eyes were vacant, his spirit broken.
In a few days, the spirited wolf he once was was gone.
*The pack’s harsh justice has left its mark,* I thought, a flicker of guilt passing through my wolf.
The iron gate opened.
“Alexander!” Emily’s voice, though sharp, held a practiced note of surprise and concern.
Alexander slowly looked up.
At the sight of Emily, a spark flickered in his dull eyes.
“Emily…”
He struggled to rise, his legs numb from disuse. He stumbled, almost falling. Emily rushed forward, then hesitated, recoiling slightly
from his foul odor.
*She’s playing a part, my wolf observed.
*Her wolf is disgusted, but she’s using it to her advantage“.
Andrew, though equally repulsed, helped his brother. Emily feigned distress, subtly pinching her nose to block the stench.
“Alexander, are you alright? Are you injured?”
She examined him, her eyes filled with a carefully constructed performance of concern.
Alexander, touched by her show of care, shook his head, his voice hoarse.“I’m fine, just… a little hungry.”
He’d been surviving on scraps, barely better than carrion.

Emily’s eyes welled up.“Alexander, you’ve suffered! It’s all my fault. If you hadn’t done this to avenge me, you wouldn’t have…”
Her voice broke, tears falling.
Alexander, seeing her cry, felt a surge of tenderness.“Silly she–wolf, it’s not your fault. Blame that bitch, Isabella!”
At my name, a fierce glint ignited in Alexander’s eyes.
He wished he could tear me apart.
*His wolf’s anger is a weapon Emily is skillfully wielding,* I realized.
He reached out, wiping her tears, but she quickly ducked, feigning greater distress and avoiding his touch.
*She’s perfectly calculating,* my wolf snarled.
This was exactly what she wanted: to fuel Alexander’s hatred, making him a tool for her manipulation.
But she had no intention of being touched by him in his current state.
*He is too unclean for her Alpha pride*, my wolf finished, almost amused.
