Chapter277.
Dustin’s confident smirk felt like a challenge, his words dripping with condescension.
My wolf snarled, low and guttural, in response to his patronizing tone.
“Ms. Miller,” he sneered, “you’re too young, too impulsive. You’ve purged so many high–ranking betas; it’s like severing the Silvermoon Pack’s major veins! Do you think you can lead the Fire Clan with this pack of pups? Utterly naive!”
A ripple of disbelief passed through the assembled wolves.
My gaze dropped; the memory of Dustin’s moonlit tryst with his she–wolf mistress a night cycle ago, thousands of miles away, burned in my mind.
The audacity of him to even address this now.
He continued, his claws tapping a heavy rhythm on the polished obsidian table.
“Don’t think that just because you’re a young she–wolf, relying on an outsider for support, you can lead a clan. The Smith Clan has never dealt with moon–petal healing; that pup Grayson is useless!”
My eyes snapped up at the mention of Grayson. My gaze was cold, sharp, like the fangs of a cornered predator.
‘My brother. My wolf bared its teeth, ready to rip him apart. He will pay.*
Dustin faltered, momentarily stunned by the intensity of my stare. When had this she–wolf become so terrifying? His own expression
darkened,
“I’m saying this for your own good. You’re reckless. Alpha Miller and the others coddle you, pamper you, making you spoiled and clueless. I’ve lived many moon cycles and am trusted by Alpha Miller; I’m only advising you…”
“Ha.” My laugh was cold, a chilling sound that sliced through his self–righteous pronouncements.
Faye shivered.
Since I’d joined Fire Clan yesterday, I’d projected an aura of power, a dominating presence that filled the entire hall. Yet I still maintained my she–wolf façade.
But now, with that single laugh, Faye felt I might overturn the table and unsheathe a forty–meter–long blade to take him down. My wolf was practically leaping for his throat.
She half–expected to see claws and teeth under the table.
Dustin felt the crushing weight of my fury.
But he wouldn’t back down; he refused to be intimidated by a young she–wolf! His face remained impassive, his gaze locked on mine.
The air crackled with tension.
Faye was frantic; Dustin wasn’t easily dismissed! He’d managed several profitable hunts, and his expulsion would cause significant losses to the Fire Clan!
But she sensed I was enraged and beyond restraint. I wanted Dustin gone.
But this wasn’t the time; Fire Clan was still reeling, and if Dustin retaliated with a howl to the Pack Council, we’d be ruined.
She felt helpless; she couldn’t soothe my wolf’s fury! Suddenly, Grayson’s image flashed in her mind. An idea formed. She leaned close,

whispering.
“His removal will cost three million silver coins in compensation.”
I remained unmoved; Grayson had far more than that!
Faye pressed on, “Ms. Miller, Alpha Smith invested in Fire Clan.”
