Chapter 622.
“You’ve been played by Isabella!” Aurora Green exclaimed, her wolf snapping with frustration beneath her skin as she clutched her head.
A wave of grim satisfaction washed over me. I could feel my wolf, Lyra, wagging her tail in the dark corners of my mind. It was clear that Ms. Lee had finally reached her breaking point with Julia, seeing her as an utterly useless she-wolf. It was obvious Ms. Lee only tolerated Julia because of her crucial status as the Smith Pack heiress; otherwise, she would have cast her out of the pack and found a new successor long ago.
Julia’s heart–her very blood–core–lurched.
She quickly pulled out her Howlnet device, tapping open the trending frequencies and pack forums.
As she scrolled through mental projections like ‘Mass Possession, “Controlled by Mysterious Pheromones,‘ and ‘Fire Apothecary Under Fire,‘ I watched the smug satisfaction on her face instantly freeze. My wolf let out a low, mocking chuff.
“How could this be happening?”
“You think you were so subtle, so clever about it? Ha! You honestly believe Isabella brought the Fire Pack to a level almost on par with the Green Pack just by holding someone’s life–force in her hands?”
Aurora Green was practically apoplectic with rage at Julia’s sheer stupidity, her chest aching with the effort to keep her wolf from shifting.
“Isabella deliberately blew this whole thing up,” Aurora hissed, her voice sharp with accusation, her pheromones souring the air, “just to make everyone notice how abnormal those developers are! To expose your loophole with the silver–spores! Have you even considered how many high–ranking Alphas would come after you if they found out you could control other wolves?”
This was exactly what Julia had feared.
“But, Mom…” Julia’s voice trembled, raw with fear. “Isabella did it first! She was the one who controlled the Elder!”
Aurora closed her eyes, struggling to rein in the fury boiling within her. I could see the tension in her jaw, the way her canines wanted to lengthen.
“Yes, she did. But who would believe you if you told them? Besides, she definitely had a backup plan in mind when she did it! It’d be useless to try to bring her before the Pack Council!”
I knew it was true: even as my opponent, Aurora had never once underestimated me.
“Mom, what do we do now…?”
I watched Julia’s fear intensify, her voice thick with unshed tears.
The terror in her eyes made it seem like she was already picturing it: the furious mob of pack members she’d implanted with silver–spores, tearing her to shreds once they unearthed the truth of her mind–bond.
“Now, disable those control commands, but don’t lift them completely. Instead, plant the idea in their minds that ‘Isabella set this whole trap to take their territorial assets for nothing.”
“Yes, yes, Mom, I understand…”
Julia quickly assented, then hung up the mental link and grabbed the rune–controller, modifying the commands had instructed.

As her fingers flew over the artifact, she bit down hard on her lower lip, a bitter cocktail of jealousy and resentment surging within her
wolf.
Drained, she slumped back on the sofa after she finished adjusting the commands. Her wolf was whimpering, exhausted by the strain. Her lips were bitten raw, bleeding, a stark testament to the sheer depth of her hatred.
Just then, her enforcer burst in.
“Ms. Ju… Ms. Julia! This is terrible!”
“Get out!” Julia snapped, her voice laced with an Alpha’s irritation.
The enforcer knew Julia’s volatile temper. If she left without delivering such critical news immediately, she’d certainly face the bite of the ancient pack laws.
So, she swallowed her fear and spoke:
“Ma’am… Ma’am, you need to see the trending Howlnet topics!”
I could almost see Julia, impatiently snatching up her device and tapping it open.
The next second, I knew the color would have drained from her face, leaving her utterly pale.
The top trending topic, marked with a huge “HOT!” tag on the mental feed, must have screamed at her.
The headline:“Huge Congratulations to Fire Apothecary’s Washington Branch for Settling into ‘The Heart of the Washington
Packlands“!”
She’d just altered her commands, I knew. Even if those investors were wavering, they wouldn’t have sold their territory to me that quickly.
Then she’d have taken a closer look: The Heart of the Washington Packlands!‘
That was the Smith Pack’s ancestral property in the Southern Territories!
The Smith Pack holdings in those lands had, of course, been folded back into the main pack after Grayson returned, but the ownership–that was still his alone. Exclusively Grayson’s.
Nobody but an Alpha like Grayson could touch that property.
Then it would have hit her. Boom.
Her mind, I knew, must have felt like it was exploding.
It was Grayson. Her own brother–wolf.
He’d given ‘The Heart of the Washington Packlands‘ to me!
I could almost feel her blood run cold, freezing in her veins at that very moment.
But what would have truly eaten away at her, what would have fueled her indignation more than anything, was this:
Grayson had known my plan all along!
I realized he hadn’t stepped in right away. Instead, he’d watched, like a detached observer, as she stumbled through her clumsy attempts to trip me up, playing the fool.
He’d let her escalate things, let the gossip spread through the Howlnet, let everyone focus on the “unusual” behavior of those

developers–all according to my plan, but with his own subtle timing.
Only after my trap was fully sprung, after everyone realized I’d employed my own methods of control, did he leisurely make his move, delivering a devastating blow.
He hadn’t just given me the most prestigious pack location, he’d used it to declare to the entire werewolf world-
-that I, Isabella Miller, was his to protect.
It was a masterful move, one that hadn’t interfered with my meticulously crafted plan, yet screamed his intense, possessive mate–love for me. I felt a hum of heat in my chest, and Lyra purred in response to his Alpha pheromones.
And, almost as an afterthought… it crushed Julia’s reputation, grinding her face into the dirt.
I could almost hear Julia’s raw, guttural scream–a primal cry of defeat.
I knew then, the tsunami of jealousy and hatred that must be consuming her, dragging her wolf under.
I could almost picture her, frantic, sweeping everything off her desk, letting it crash to the floor.
I could almost hear her shriek those words, laced with venom:“Isabella! I’ll kill you! I swear I’ll kill you!”
Jealousy, I knew, must have twisted her features into something unrecognizable, her wolf’s muzzle peeking through the human mask.
The next day.
Before dawn even broke, the entire Washington Packlands business district was rocked by an unprecedented earthquake.
I could almost picture it: Aurora, jolted awake by a relentless barrage of urgent mind–links, her morning shattered by the unfolding
chaos.
