Five Alphas Kneel for Me (Isabella) novel Chapter 9

Chapter 9

My sudden cooperation made them suspicious.

From my pouch, I produced a crimson amulet.

The Millers recognized it instantly–a gift from Caleb, procured from the Sacred Grove before my entrance exam into the Alpha Pack training grounds.

It was meant to bring good fortune.

Caleb had even suffered a minor injury during the hunt for it.

As a pup, I’d cried, feeling terrible for him, vowing to protect the amulet forever.

Even after five years, it was pristine, a testament to my affection.

Later, when my brothers wanted similar amulets, Caleb refused, laughing,

“Isabella is different. She’s my only sister.”

I tossed the amulet to Emily casually.

“Since Emily has endured so much, this amulet is for you.”

Emily caught it, a flash of triumph in her eyes, though she feigned humility.

“This is so precious. I can’t accept it. And I’m not truly a Miller…”

My brothers immediately interjected, “The pack adopted you. You are one of us. Don’t say that.”

“Emily, don’t cry. You’re our sister now.” Then they turned on me.

“Isabella, what is the meaning of this? Are you deliberately making Emily uncomfortable?”

“She’s not ready for the Moonstone Hunt. Maybe she needs a little luck,” I said coldly.

“If not, she can pray to the Moon Goddess.”

Facing their angry stares, I continued indifferently, “Caleb’s amulet is potent. This shows my sincerity. Caleb won’t mind, right? An adopted sister is also a sister. You can’t be biased.

If I have something, my adopted sister should too.”

Those were words they’d once used to comfort me.

I was the one in the wrong, yet I was acting so defiant.

Isabella, do you understand what you’re doing? That amulet was uniquely mine.

Alexander whined.

“Why can’t you be as considerate as Emily?”

I laughed.

“So, this isn’t enough?”

They frowned, speechless.

They thought I was being unreasonable.

All they wanted was a sincere peace offering.

Was that too much to ask?

“What about these?” I produced a small chest, tilting it, spilling its contents onto the ground at my feet.

My wolf smirked; they’d underestimated me.
