Chapter 98
Grayson continued, his voice laced with concern, “What’s the plan for later?”
“After we eat, I’ll head home by three.” I answered obediently. My wolf felt a warmth spread through me at his concern, a comforting presence.
Grayson nodded in satisfaction, his lips curling up slightly, “Then have fun.” His scent, usually sharp and commanding, held a softer note now, a protective gentleness.
With that, he scanned the surrounding students, “Please take care of my sister; I have something to attend to, so I’ll be leaving. Since we met today, this meal is on me.”
He turned to leave, clearly having something to attend to; he’d come only because of me. This was a real brother! My wolf felt a surge of happiness and gratitude.
The contrast was stark.
Jared’s face was dark, his eyes burning with anger. His wolf was visibly agitated, its scent sharp and hostile. He stepped forward, stopping Grayson.
His voice was low and hostile, “Grayson, Isabella isn’t your biological sister; you don’t care about her!”
Grayson slowly turned, his deep black eyes locking onto Jared, a hint of disdain and contempt in his alpha presence was undeniable, silencing the surrounding she–wolves with his sheer power.
gaze. His
“I’ve confirmed with her; she’s socializing normally with her classmates and isn’t planning on staying out late. Isabella is an adult; I won’t interfere with her normal life, is that okay?”
He raised his chin, a sarcastic smile on his lips.
“I’m a reasonable brother, unlike someone who controls his sister under the guise of caring, yet acts like the best brother in the world.”
His scent was a clear challenge, an alpha’s dominance asserting itself.
The students found him cool!
A she–wolf whispered, “Wow, he’s so cool! That’s what a brother should be like!”
“There’s no comparison! Compared to Grayson, Jared is a terrible brother!”
“Worse than terrible; he’s toxic!”
Jared was furious; his chest heaved; his anger threatened to erupt. He wanted to retort, but he couldn’t! It meant admitting Grayson was right! He couldn’t take it! His wolf was snarling, a frustrated, impotent rage.
Just as he was about to retort, his howlnet communicator suddenly chirped, interrupting his thoughts. Annoyed, Jared pulled out his communicator, seeing “Caleb” on the display. He frowned, shot Grayson a glare, and answered, “Caleb, Isabella is getting more and more out of line; you need to come and handle her!”
However, the voice on the other end wasn’t the familiar male voice but a strange female voice:“Excuse me, do you

know the owner of this communicator? He’s had an accident and is currently in the hospital.”
Jared’s face paled.
His wolf whimpered, sensing something wrong. “I’m his brother; where is he?”
After getting the address, he hung up, turning to leave.
His wolf was panicked, a primal fear gripping him.
He turned to me.
“Don’t blame me for not warning you; Grayson isn’t sincere; take care of yourself!”
With that, he stormed off, dragging along Emily.
They arrived at the hospital. Caleb was sitting up in bed, his face pale.
Seeing them, his eyes lit up; his gaze went past them, as if searching for someone. He’d heard Jared’s loud voice while unconscious–I was here! Would I come?
