Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 162

“Dr. Walsh, what is this…?” Veronica asked in a low voice.

“This is a presentation on a breakthrough study in autoimmune system reconstruction,” Dr. Walsh said, his voice filled with unconcealed excitement. “If successful, it will save millions of patients with lupus and leukemia.”

“This is Nobel Prize-level work!”

Veronica was completely lost. Lupus? Leukemia? What did that have to do with her? All she cared about was finding that bitch Grace.

She scanned the room, looking for that shabby figure, but she couldn’t find her anywhere.

Just then, the lights in the hall dimmed, and a single spotlight illuminated the center of the stage. The host’s impassioned voice rang out.

“And now, please welcome the core leader of this project, our chief scientist…”

“Dr. Grace Hart, to the stage to present her report!”

Thunderous applause erupted.

Veronica looked up. A figure walked out slowly from the side of the stage. She wore a simple white lab coat over a dark blue blouse, her hair casually tied in a low ponytail, and a pair of gold-rimmed glasses perched on her face.

But as she stood in that beam of light, she was breathtakingly beautiful. It wasn't the beauty of her features, but an aura of intelligence that radiated from within. Poised, confident, resolute.

Veronica’s jaw dropped. Grace? The same Grace who was despised by the Hart family, abandoned by the Ward family, and called a jinx?

She was the chief scientist?!

“What do you think you’re doing?!” Dr. Walsh hissed, his voice low. “This is not the place for taking pictures and making a scene! Sit down!”

Veronica felt incredibly wronged. “Dr. Walsh, that woman… that Grace, she’s a fraud! She doesn’t know anything about this! She’s just an abandoned woman kicked out of a wealthy family! She slept her way to the top!”

Dr. Walsh’s face darkened instantly, becoming ten times uglier than before.

“Shut up!” he snarled, his voice trembling with incredulous anger. “Do you have any idea what you’re saying? I’ve read Dr. Hart’s paper in The Lancet! The data models in it are the result of more than a decade of hard work! She lived in the lab for three straight years for this project! And you say she relied on a man? That’s absurd! You’re ignorant!”

Dr. Walsh was a true scholar who could not tolerate anyone slandering science.

Veronica was stunned by the scolding. She had never seen Dr. Walsh so furious.
