Serena wasn't a fool.
This was a society with laws, and kidnapping Ivy was the worst possible option.
She wasn't about to make the same brainless mistakes as the Hart family.
While Grace's personality was soft, Damien was known for being ruthless. Serena didn't dare take that risk.
So, she had to find another way.
Winter in Jarrow City was cold, and the wind was harsh, feeling like a knife against her face.
Ivy, wrapped in a thick scarf, walked into a real estate agency.
Ever since her parents divorced, she had felt like an orphan.
Though she acted carefree and boisterous, deep down, she was extremely insecure.
"Miss Dawson?"
A young man in a suit greeted her enthusiastically.
"I'm Lucas. We met last time. You mentioned you were looking for a small, move-in ready apartment close to your company?"
Ivy nodded. "Yes, and I need a place with good security."
Lucas immediately broke into a wide grin. "Well, you're in luck. We happen to have a few properties that are priced just right."
Ivy followed Lucas around for the entire morning, her legs aching, before finally stopping at a high-end residential complex.
After viewing the apartment, however, Ivy hesitated.
The place was nice, but the down payment was a bit over her budget.
"Miss Dawson, take your time to think it over, there's no rush," Lucas said considerately. "It's freezing out. Why don't we go sit down at that new themed cafe up ahead? I hear the owner is incredibly handsome. He specializes in anime latte art and just launched a new Gojo Satoru design."
At the mention of Gojo Satoru, Ivy was intrigued.
"Let's go!"
The two walked for about five minutes and arrived at an anime-themed cafe on the corner called "Dimensional Space."
Meanwhile, Lucas smirked and discreetly took out his phone to snap a photo.
When Grace received Ivy's call, she was at home, learning how to steam and mash organic sweet potatoes for the baby with the nanny.
"Grace! I'm in love!"
On the other end of the line, Ivy was shouting with excitement. "I'm telling you, I've met my soulmate! He's exactly my type! The kind of handsome that's just… infuriatingly perfect!"
Grace put down her knife, walked out of the kitchen, and smiled helplessly. "You said the same thing about your blind date last month."
"This time it's different!"
Ivy swore. "His name is Lucian Chow, he's a barista, he's incredibly gentle, and he loves anime too! I'm telling you, I… I've met my soulmate!"
Grace walked into the living room, sat down, and wiped her hands as she continued to ask, "A barista? Where did you meet him?"
"I was looking at apartments today, right outside the Orchid Pavilions. Oh, you wouldn't understand, it was just… that love-at-first-sight feeling."
Ivy started describing on the phone just how perfect Lucian Chow was.
