Julian Leung left the country five days ago?
Serena Shum's mind went blank at the news.
Did that mean Julian Leung had already skipped town right as the scandal with The Myriad Galleria was starting to blow up?
"Impossible..." Serena Shum murmured to herself. "That's not what he told me..."
"The master left a message for you."
The butler's voice cut through her panic. "He said that greedy people often die from their own foolishness. You'd best look after yourself."
The call disconnected.
Serena sat stunned in her car, staring at the tightly shut gates. Suddenly, a sharp, hysterical laugh broke from her lips.
She had risked everything to bring down Grace and Damien.
She never imagined that after being so clever her whole life, she would be so thoroughly played at the last second.
"I hope you rot in hell, Julian Leung!"
Serena gritted her teeth and slammed her hands on the steering wheel.
If Grace had been there, she probably would have found it immensely satisfying.

It was the day of the Winter Solstice.
The Clarke family's villa was decorated with festive red lanterns, their warm yellow light spilling onto the snow-covered ground, creating a cozy atmosphere.
Mrs. Lew had prepared a large pot of sweet glutinous rice balls filled with black sesame paste, the steam rising in fragrant clouds.
Grace blew on a spoonful of the sweet soup before eating it with a contented look on her face.
Sitting in her high chair, Gianna saw her mother eating and cooed, reaching out her little hands.
Grace leaned away slightly.
"No, Gianna, you can't have any."
Gianna pouted and rolled her little eyes.
Grace couldn't help but giggle at her daughter's antics.
These peaceful days felt almost surreal to Grace.
She wasn't sure how she had made it through the nearly thirty years of her past.
"I understand." Grace took a deep breath. "Thank you for your hard work."
After hanging up, Grace looked over at Ivy, who was staring blankly from the sofa.
Ever since she was rescued, Ivy had been living with the Clarkes. Though she had recovered physically, it was as if her soul had left her body.
She held a bowl of sweet soup that had long since gone cold, her eyes empty as she stared at the television. A comedy sketch was playing on the festival's TV special, and the studio audience roared with laughter, but her face remained expressionless.
"Ivy."
Grace walked over and sat down beside her.
Ivy turned her head slowly. "What is it?"
"They caught Lucian Chow."
Ivy's expression didn't change; she just nodded.
"Elliot said he'll be back in the country in two days. Do you want to see him?"
Ivy placed the small bowl on the coffee table and turned back to Grace, speaking very earnestly. "Grace, thank you..."
Grace took her hand, her heart aching. "Ivy, if you don't want to see him, we won't. Damien has already arranged for the best lawyers. You don't have to face him."
