Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 511

“I used to think that when I saw him, I’d march right up and slap him a few times, or ask him why he did this to me. I even… I even fantasized that he would get on his knees and beg for my forgiveness.”

“But just now, I suddenly felt like there was no point.”

“A person like him isn’t worth a single ounce of my energy.”

“You’re right,” Grace Hart said with a smile. “Trash belongs in the trash can, or at the dump. Even looking at it makes you feel dirty.”

“Ivy, you’re braver than I am.”

Grace said it sincerely.

It had taken her a full five years and nearly cost her her life to see the true colors of Ethan Ward and the Hart family.

But Ivy Dawson, although she had also been scammed out of nearly everything she had, had come to her senses completely in less than two months.

That was good.

“I’m not brave at all.”

Ivy shook her head, her eyes slightly red. “I’m just heartbroken over the money. That’s my hard-earned money, Grace! I worked myself to the bone for years to save that! I’m literally going to cry! If I don’t get that money back, you’re going to have to adopt me!”

Grace was speechless.

Indeed, a love for money is the most sobering thing in the world.

“Don’t worry,” Grace comforted her. “Damien Clarke said that once they recover some of the stolen funds and auction off the house in his name, you should be able to get back about eighty percent of your losses. As for the rest… just consider it a lesson learned, tuition paid.”

“That’s some expensive tuition,” Ivy pouted, but her expression had visibly relaxed. “Still, I really owe Mr. Ashcombe for this. Grace, do you think I should get him a commemorative plaque or something?”

“A plaque?”

Grace imagined the scene.

Elliot Ashcombe, that no-nonsense guy, holding a plaque and grinning awkwardly in front of the police station.

She involuntarily shivered.

“You’re back?”

He put the book down and lifted a corner of the blanket. “Come here.”

Grace took off her coat, slipped into bed, and curled up beside him.

“How did it go? Did you see him?” Damien casually wrapped an arm around her waist.

“Didn’t see him.”

Grace said in a muffled voice. “The federal authorities intercepted him. But Ivy is taking it pretty well.”

Damien chuckled softly. “Sounds like she’s really let it go.”

“Yeah, she’s much stronger than me,” Grace remarked with some emotion.

Damien pinched her chin. “You’re just too sentimental. The Hart family exploited your kindness, and Ethan exploited your love. It’s not your fault. It’s them who are unworthy.”
