Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 534

Inside the elevator.

Grace stood at the front with her baby, while Elliot huddled in the corner, clutching the bouquet.

Grace caught Elliot's terrified, deer-in-the-headlights reflection in the elevator doors and sighed inwardly.

"Elliot."

Grace spoke up suddenly.

"Yeah? Here!" Elliot instantly snapped to attention.

"Ivy... she acts tough and carefree, but she's actually deeply sensitive."

Grace looked down to adjust Gianna's little hat, her tone soft. "You know she's been hurt before. When it comes to romance, she's probably going to have her guard up."

Elliot paused before giving a firm, serious nod.

"I know."

His voice still held a trace of anxiety, but it was anchored by determination. "I'll take it slow. I don't expect her to accept me right away. I just want her to know that someone cares about her."

Grace's hands stilled.

Once upon a time, she had fantasized about a man saying those exact words about her.

Sadly, neither the Hart family nor the Ward family had ever offered her someone like that.

Not until she met Damien.

As infuriating as that man could be sometimes, he had truly shown up for her.

"That's good."

Grace let out a light laugh. "Don't let her down. Otherwise..."

She shot him a fierce glare. "I'll show you exactly what a best friend's revenge looks like."

A chill ran down Elliot's spine, and he nodded vigorously.

"Absolutely! I promise!"

Ding.

The elevator arrived.

There were only two units on this floor. The hallway was wide and quiet, lined with thick carpets that absorbed their footsteps completely.

Elliot's nerves flared up all over again.

He kept adjusting his tie, glancing down at his dress shoes, and even using the polished surface of the door to fix his hair.

"Enough. You're going to rub yourself bald."

Unable to watch the pathetic display any longer, Grace reached over and rang the doorbell.
