Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 538

Looking at Ivy's bashful expression and Elliot's foolish, heartsick gaze, Grace suddenly felt like a third wheel.

"All right, I think that's enough medicated liniment treatment for one day."

Grace set her glass down and cleared her throat. "Mr. Ashcombe, since official business is handled, I'll leave the personal matters... up to you two?"

Hearing this, Ivy practically jumped off the couch. She pulled her injured arm in the process and winced in pain.

"Grace! You're leaving? You're just going to abandon me here?"

Elliot, quick on the uptake, put on a righteous expression. "Ivy's mobility is compromised right now. As a... ahem, as a public servant, it's my duty to stay and look after the injured."

"Look after my foot!" Ivy rolled her eyes. "What can you even do? Can you cook or do laundry?"

"I can cook."

Elliot answered without a shred of hesitation. "I've helped out in the station cafeteria. My specialties are BBQ ribs and steamed bass."

Ivy choked on her own words.

Grace, however, laughed.

"Perfect."

Grace stood up. "There are groceries in the fridge. Mr. Ashcombe, I leave Ivy's lunch in your capable hands."

"Mission accepted!" Elliot replied solemnly.

Grace scooped up Gianna, who was still happily playing on the rug. "Come on, Gianna. Let's go before we interrupt your godmother's romance."

Holding the toddler, she walked to the door and gave a breezy wave.

"Remember to lock the door behind me. I wouldn't want anyone making a run for it."

"Grace Hart! Get back here right now!"

Ivy's roar echoed behind her, only to be immediately drowned out by Elliot's gentle voice: "Do you want it a little sweeter or more savory?"

The door clicked shut.

Grace stepped into the elevator and let out a long breath.

Things were good.
