Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 71

Felix had brought a comforting bowl of millet and pumpkin porridge, served with a few delicate, lightly-seasoned side dishes.

Grace picked up the spoon, scooped up some porridge, blew on it gently, and took a bite.

A warmth instantly spread from her stomach, chasing away the chill that had settled in her bones over the past few days.

For no particular reason, her eyes welled up.

How long had it been since someone had prepared a warm meal for her when she was starving?

At the Hart family home, she was always the last one to eat, left with only cold leftovers.

After marrying Ethan, she was the one who often cooked, making all sorts of different porridges for him.

But he rarely came home to eat them.

Grace slowly finished the entire bowl of porridge.

She ate every last bite of the side dishes as well.

With her stomach warm, she felt a bit of her strength return.

She set the bowl down and looked up at Damien.

"Mr. Clarke, thank you for what you did today."

Her voice was still hoarse, but it held a sincerity that wasn't there before.

Damien didn't turn around.

"It's just business."

His voice was devoid of emotion.

Grace took a deep breath and summoned her courage.

"Well… for the first part of our collaboration, could you do me a favor, Mr. Clarke?"

Only then did Damien slowly turn around, his intense gaze falling upon her.

"Speak."

"Take me back to the Hart family estate."

Damien raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Back to the Hart estate."

"Yes." Grace nodded. "There are some things I have to get back."

Like her official family records.

Like the last legal thread connecting her to that so-called "family" in this world.

Before, she had always clung to that fragile bond of blood, hoping they would one day look back at her.

Sabrina walked over in a silk nightgown.

Seeing Grace standing at the door, she was first surprised, then a scornful and gloating smile spread across her face.

"Well, well, look who it is. Isn't it the Hart family's shameless eldest daughter who ran off with some tramp?"

"What? Did he get tired of you? Finally decided to come crawling back?"

Grace gave her an emotionless glance before walking past her into the house.

Sabrina was infuriated by her dismissive attitude and stomped her feet, screaming from behind.

"Grace! You little bitch! What's with that attitude?"

In the living room, Mr. Hart, the three Hart brothers, and Lilian were all present.

It looked like they were all enjoying a cheerful family breakfast.

Her "disappearance" seemed to have had no effect on them at all.

At the sound of Sabrina's loud voice, all eyes turned to her in unison.

Surprise, contempt, disdain…

Lilian was the first to react.
