Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 72

She put down her glass of milk, stood up, and rushed over with a look of feigned surprise and worry.

"Grace! You're finally back! Where have you been? We were all so worried!"

As she spoke, she reached for Grace's hand.

Grace coldly sidestepped, avoiding her touch.

Lilian's hand froze awkwardly in mid-air.

Her eyes immediately turned red as she looked at Grace, hurt.

"Grace… are you still mad at us?"

Lucian slammed his fork down on the table with a loud clatter. He shot up from his chair and pointed a finger at Grace's face.

"Grace! You have the nerve to come back?!"

"Do you have any idea what you've done? The Brooks family canceled the contract because of you! You've completely disgraced the Hart family name!"

Mr. Hart's face was ashen. He glared at her and barked, "Kneel!"

Grace stood perfectly straight, not even bothering to lift her eyelids.

She merely gave the living room a cursory scan.

Then, she spoke slowly.

"I didn't come back today to listen to your nonsense."

"I'm here to remove my name from the family register."

Everyone froze for a moment.

Remove… her name from the register?

What did she mean by that?

Sabrina was the first to recover, letting out another piercing shriek.

"What did you say?! You ungrateful brat! The Hart family raised you, and now that you think you're grown, you want to cut ties with us?!"

"I'm telling you, not a chance!"

Lucian also snapped out of it and started yelling at her.

"Grace, are you insane? You want to leave the Hart family? Who do you think you are? What are you without us?!"

Mr. Hart stared at Grace, his eyes burning with fury.

"I, Alistair Hart, have no such ungrateful daughter!"

After she had been missing for two days and nearly assaulted, he returned not with a single word of concern, but with a demand that she give him her life back.

It was laughable.

She curled her lips into a sarcastic smile.

"You want my life? You can have it. But I'm afraid you can't afford it."

"You!"

Mr. Hart trembled with rage, his pointing hand shaking.

Cassian, who had been silent until now, finally spoke.

"Grace, stop this nonsense."

"I know we were wrong about what happened a few days ago, and you have every right to be upset."

"But we were doing it for your own good. Lilian has been frail since she was a child, and she's so naive. She needs the family to protect her."

"You're different. You're capable and talented. You don't need the Hart family's help."

"Families fight. Let's not hold grudges. Apologize to Dad, and we can put this all behind us. Be reasonable."
