Nine in the morning.
The director of the institute personally led several project investors to the “Galaxy” project team for an inspection.
Dr. Adrian Lowell stood proudly at the forefront, enthusiastically presenting what he called their “milestone achievements.”
“...Distinguished leaders and investors, rest assured, at our current pace, we will definitely deliver results that will satisfy you all within a month!”
Just as he finished speaking.
The door to the data analysis room opened.
Grace walked out.
Her face was pale, with dark circles under her eyes. Her hair was a mess, and she looked completely drained.
But her eyes were startlingly bright.
“Dr. Adrian Lowell.”
Her voice was hoarse from lack of sleep.
“I’m afraid your results… will never materialize.”
“What are you talking about!” Dr. Lowell's expression changed instantly. Being called out in front of so many important people made him furious with embarrassment.
“Grace! Are you insane? I think you’re just trying to cause trouble!”
“The data will speak for itself.”
Grace ignored his tirade, walked straight to the main console, and inserted her flash drive.
She displayed two data models she had worked on all night, side-by-side on the large screen.
On the left was Dr. Lowell’s team’s original model, riddled with flaws.
On the right was her corrected, brand-new model.
The superiority of one over the other was immediately obvious.
“This is…”
Several of the gray-haired senior experts standing behind the director stared, their eyes wide with astonishment as they saw the model on the right.
“A perfect double helix structure… This target selection… My God! It’s absolutely brilliant!”
“If we proceed with this plan, our project’s success rate could increase by at least fifty percent!”
“Dr. Hart.”
He spoke with gravity.
“On behalf of the institute, I apologize for our previous misunderstanding and unfair treatment of you.”
“Furthermore, I hereby announce your official appointment as the deputy head of the ‘Galaxy’ project team, with full authority over the upcoming core research and development!”
His words sent a shockwave through the room.
The other members of the project team were dumbfounded.
They had mocked her, ostracized her, and treated her like an academic fraud.
But in the end, it was this person they looked down on who, by herself, had saved the entire project and, with it, all of their careers.
It was a resounding slap in the face.
Grace didn’t look at their complicated expressions, nor did she pay any mind to Dr. Lowell's venomous glare.
She simply inclined her head slightly to the director.
“Thank you, Director. I will not disappoint you.”
