Forgotten Wife Let the traitors kneel Down (by Patricia Maradiaga) novel Chapter 189

Maya was in shock, she couldn’t believe what Fay was telling her, and if he hadn’t been a fairy incapable of lying, she would have thought it was all a lie he had invented to separate her from Cassian. She dropped the dagger with which she had threatened Fay, and he took advantage of

the moment of confusion to escape.

He hadn’t wanted to tell her the truth and knew he would have problems with the queen for revealing who Maya really was, but he had felt compelled to do so.

Maya seemed truly in love with her human lover, and with each passing day, she showed less intention of returning to the land of the fairies. That’s why he had started to intervene; he wanted her to stay away from him, otherwise, he would end up suffering a slow and torturous death for not fulfilling the queen’s orders to take care of Maya.

Fay scratched his head in confusion; he couldn’t understand why the queen had allowed her to leave the land of the fairies, knowing that Maya desperately wanted to escape.

I don’t understand what the queen was thinking. If she’s so valuable, why did she allow her to

leave?

Fay went out to the garden and approached a large tree with broad leaves. Since he had arrived at the palace, he had been using it to communicate with the land of the fairies. He touched the trunk of the tree, and instantly a leaf fell from the tree. He caught it before it hit the ground; on the leaf was a message written, which was short and precise.

Return immediately to the land of the fairies.

Fay let out a deep sigh, looked up at the sky, and wondered what was happening in the land of the fairies. He was heading to find Maya’s lover when he encountered him in the hallway.

I was just about to look for you.”

Cassian didn’t hide his displeasure when he saw him.

What do you want?

I heard that the elven princess has awakened from her long sleep.

That’s right.”

I must return to my kingdom and need to know if you will accept an alliance or not.

You’re leaving already? What will happen to Maya?

She will return with me; that is her home now.

She can’t leave.

Listen carefully, human, Maya cannot stay with your she never will, the queen would never allow it.

I don’t care if she allows it or not; I won’t let her take away the woman I love.

Fay sighed deeply; it seemed Maya’s human lover was just as stubborn as she was. He turned around, and before leaving, he said,

I’ll look for you tomorrow to get my answer; you have until tomorrow to think about what you’ll do. Just remember that by refusing to have an alliance with my kingdom, you will be declaring yourselves as our enemies.

After Fay left, Cassian went to see Alessandro. Cassian knew that having an alliance with the fairies was a decision he couldn’t make alone; it was something Alessandro and Abril had to

decide. This time he knocked on the door, and immediately heard Alessandro’s voice, allowing him

to enter.

Cassian, you arrived at a good time; I was just thinking of looking for you.

Abril greeted him with a smile.

Hello Cassian, I’m glad to see you.

When you hear why I’m here, you might change your mind.

What’s wrong, Cassian?

Alessandro asked, somewhat worried, since his brother’s face was serious.

Fay has found out that Abril has awakened and has demanded an answer; he wants to know if we accept an alliance with them or if we will be their enemies.

Alessandro frowned; Abril had just awakened after nearly dying from facing an army of monsters,

and now an arrogant fairy wanted her to go through the same thing again. Alessandro’s blood

boiled at the mere thought of Abril going through a similar ordeal again.

There will be no alliance; I won’t allow Abril to be in danger again, and if that makes us enemies,

then so be it.

Abril stood up from the sofa where she was sitting placed her hand on Alessandro’s arm to calm

him, and said,

Calm down, Lessan.

How can I calm down if that arrogant fairy wants to put you in danger again?

I understand how you feel, but I also understand them. They are facing an enemy they cannot fight, and you should know better than anyone how that feels.

Yes, but

Besides, it’s something we owe to Maya. She has helped us a lot.”

Abril turned to Cassian.

I know how much you love Maya and what you’ve suffered being away from her, because I went

through something similar when I had to be away from Lessan. So, I want to help you just as you

have helped us. Tell Fay that we accept the alliance but we have a few conditions.

Alessandro replied to Abril’s words.

Aby, you can’t

It’s my decision, Lessan. They are my dear friends and I want to help them.

Cassian, we are going to get Maya back. I will make sure to restore her freedom. I don’t think the queen will refuse to release her if I ask, since the help they will receive will be very significant.

Do you really intend to do that?

Of course.

Abril approached Cassian, took his hand, and said to him.

Partly, it has been my fault that you had to be separated, and now I want to make it right.

Cassian began to cry. He had promised Maya that he would manage to restore her freedom, but in reality, he had no idea how he would do it, so Abril’s words were like a breath of fresh air, a relief that gave him back his breath.

Thank you so much, Abril. I really appreciate it.

Cassian repeated those words over and over, while tears of relief and happiness streamed down his cheeks. Alessandro wanted to reply, but seeing his brother’s tearful face stopped him. Abril had restored his hope of recovering the woman he loved, and he didn’t have the heart to take it away

from him.
